Wow Oluyomi, It has been exactly a month since you transitioned to Glory and yet it feels like yesterday and the physical and emotional pain for us that you left is still so Raw and Real! I just want to say personally that you are truly missed and forever cherished. My words fail me as it's beginning to sink in that we will not see you or walk with you nor be able to confide in and ask for your opinion and guidance when it's needed or required, on this side of eternity! But in my grief and sorrow, I am thankful still to GOD for being able to call you My Sister and let you know that you are My Champion and You are Victorious! I Love you and Miss You!

I am free

June 26, 2021
Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free
I’m following the path God laid for me.
I took his hand when I heard His call;
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way;
I found that place at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss;
Ah yes, these things, I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow;
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life’s been full, I savoured much;
Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief;
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me;
God wanted me now,
and set me free. (Anonymous)

UPDATE FROM YOMI'S DEAR SISTER - Abiodun 'Tope Adefolarin

June 11, 2021
Thank you for checking in,
Its been about 4 weeks of visiting my younger sister Oluyomi, with a goal to help with her care and document her journey to recovery.
I sit here reflecting, after she left this earth and transitioned to glory on June 8th, that recovery is contextual and can mean different things to different people. Although our hearts are heavy, because as a family, we felt we wanted her longer on this side of eternity. We are however thankful that she is in her eternal home with God.
She did fight a good fight of faith against Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) and now there is laid up for her rest and a crown of righteousness. (2 Timothy 4:8). She looked so peaceful after passing, she has indeed recovered!
One of our scriptures for the journey was Acts 3:16 “And His name, through and by faith in His name, has made “Oluyomi”, whom you see and recognize, well and strong. Yes the faith which is through and by Jesus has given “Oluyomi” this perfect soundness of body before all of you”. Oluyomi, my “warrior girl” was an epitome of strength and resilience. She is now recovered and resting from all labour.
We will meet in Jesus’ company where we will part no more. The battle is done and the victory won. Oluyomi, Modupe, Otolorin, (Aina, Oke) Helen, Queen, my darling younger sister (Yummy Mummy), baby of the family, best friend, Dr. Dapo Bakare’s one and only sweetheart transitioned to glory at her appointed time.

OBITUARY ANNOUNCEMENT BY THE FAMILY

June 11, 2021
Dear Family and Our Dear Friends,
With Gratitude and Sincere Praise to GOD, we announce the passing of Our Beloved Sister Dr.( Mrs ) Oluyomi Modupe Helen Queen Otolorin Bakare. She valiantly and triumphantly battled AML and finally overcame the deadly physical disease on 06/08/2021 at approximately 12:26pm when she went Home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Although our hearts are heavy because we felt we needed her longer on this side of eternity, we are Thankful to GOD that she is at Home with Him in Glory.
Please be on the lookout for funeral arrangements and dissemination of necessary and pertinent informations as they become available.
Most importantly at this time, we ask that you please pray for her Husband - fondly known as Prof. and Dr. B, by most! He truly needs Our prayers, spiritual and emotional support during this very tough time.
- Jimmy, On behalf of Engr. KayTee Okunola and The Okunola-Bakare Family!
