Life’s Too Short

November 29, 2021
A life so full of promise and greatness; but cut too short too soon! Rest On my brother

Remembering Oye

November 24, 2021
I will always remember singing with Oye in the St. Andrew's Episcopal Church choir. In addition to his beautiful voice and vast knowledge about music, he always brought a smile to everyone's face with his sense of humor. Oye introduced his parents to my husband Ray Williams and me when they were visiting and we enjoyed dining with them and watching the choir cabaret together. We were lucky enough to enjoy another dinner with them at a Thai restaurant near the church. During his parents' visits, we felt like one big family. We will always remember Oye and his special gift he brought to us and our church.

Oyebade Ajibola - A Legend

May 2, 2020
Today I finished writing the book '2460' Living Legend. Surfing online on Nigerians doing great ethnomusic I got this news and also saw today that Akin Euba too is dead.

Wow!

Nigeria when will you start celebrating your Legends. Anyway, it's now my responsibility and yours too.

I have not met him but my student Lawal O. David introduced his music to me - Messiah Baba Mi. This Music keeps my FOCUS on Christ alone. Guessed, he is so loved by Christ than we cherished him here on earth, like Enoch vanished.

From a far I can see selflessness, true originality and dying passion for the Hope of Christ in him. I will share with you soon sir.

Unfortunately, after seeing 7437 Views on his memorial and that he died at the age I was initiated into a dangerous commission. I love you Oyebade Ajibade Dosunmu and I know you can see this. We will make you proud and make your works reach the ends of the earth.

To this end, I dedicate this book to you 2460 Living Legend - Teens Edition as a Forever Legend.

What a Godsend

June 12, 2017

I remember meeting Oye in South Africa while he was working with the Pretoria Technikon. We immediately clicked and what followed were plenty of information sharing and music and basically beautiful times and weekend excursions. I learned a lot from this gentleman and he always called me 'younger brother' he introduced me to the great Singer Somi and I will never forgot the night we attended Somi's concert in Johannesburg with another lady friend of his.

Then to cut the long story short, he went back home to Nigeria and during this time we lost contact. Only to learn tonight 12 June 2017 that he passed away 4 months since the last time I saw him. At least I will find closure in knowing my brother is resting peacefully in heaven. I will forever love and cherish the beautiful time I spend with him. My condolences goes to his family and all his dear friends who has lost a brother in him. I say let us all find strength in the lord our God. RIP Oye. Will forever remain in my hearts and

Oyebade Dosunmu! You were my senior back in FEGO. I admired you from a distance being one of the very few seniors that won't bully a junior boy. I equally remember your great voice- you were always singing praises on our way back from Night Prep. Never saw you after school but all these messages testify to your having lived for God and His work. Rest on my senior, take your well deserved rest from this life of toil and vanity.

.........And so bade was laid to rest today in his home town of Owu. Friends family from far and near came to bid the prince goodbye. It was glorious.

Like the Pastor preached, it is appointed unto men to die ONCE! We all have that appointment let us make it count, let us make it God........

Oyebade, I am still to come to terms with the news of your departing. I mean, how can a gem like you, a brillant and good hearted person such as you be departed so soon? I choose to celebrate your life regardless.

I remember how you carried the CLF Firm Foundation choir from a zero level to the best in OAU at the time. You added solid value my dear. You worked on developing us in music. You taught us music theory. You also took us to the studio for recording sessions. What about the voice training sessions? I also remember the Worship resources you provided to us to help us understand what "true worship" meant. What about the songs you taught us? Anytime i remember them, they bring joy to my spirit. Here are some of the songs you taught us:

1) Sweet Spirit
2)The Lord bless you and keep you
3) Ride the chariots
4) Ain a that Good News?
5) The Welcome song you composed - Do you hear the sound of an army? Do you wanna...
6) Carol of the Bells
7) Angels we have heard on high
8) O Jesu Most Kind
9) If I Can Help Somebody
10) Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus
11) Ise Oluwa
12) Rise! Come and See the King
13) Halleluyah
14) Silent Night
15) The Night that Christ was born
16) How great our joy

I will stop here with the list.

Oyebade, I still remember our phone conversations in the latter years when you were studying at Pittsburg. The jokes you made and even the serious statements you made which made me laugh. You had a funny way of expressing yourself even while discussing serious matters.

Oyebade, rest in the arms of the Lord. I will miss you.

I recall the time Bade took us to a studio back in Ife. We had a great time and it was the first time I saw what a recording studio looked like. I also remember the time Bade organized voice training sessions for us in Lagos, it was during one of the semester breaks and knowing Bade I knew it would be a great opportunity. I was secretary of the choir at the time and as executives we had to arrange for gifts for outgoing members. So we took a trip to Lagos and had to spend the night with friends in Ibadan. It was quite a wonderful experience and opportunity to work with such a great mind. I believe that you are at rest in the Lord and He understands what we don't.

Your memories will live on because you impacted my life and that of many others.on Bade.

My first close encounter with Bade was at the interviews for new entrants into the choir. i was wondering to myself this soft spoken, slight individual would be able to handle the complexities of managing the choir. i soon realized that Bade's size was nothing compared to his will to extract the best sound ffrom us.

He knew exactly the person going off key even though we were singing as a group.

One of his favourite sentences was that we were all sounding like pepper sellers and immediately we opened our mouths, i would hear shouts of "rounded tones" that voice that was so soft spoken was highly trained to increase in volume suddenly and jolt us from undesired actions.Whenever snacks were provided during rehearsals, it was going to be a looooong night.

i dont know how you managed it because every charcter imaginable seemed to be spoken for in the choir, the unserious, the jokestar, the serious, the diva and you managed Rehaersal was mostly an exciting time of working together.

Your sense of humour was crazy. you were never afraid to state your opinions yet sometimes the weight of the resposibility got you down, but there was always encouragement from one of us. you taught us a lot and we dramatized and sang and ministered and you made a bunch of people a repected choir.

I cannot never forget you.You had your flaws yet you served in season and out of season. I pray you have peace with Jesus.

Goodnight Bade.
