Patricia Lee Davis Shanks, 66, of Luray, Virginia passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2012.  She was born April 19, 1946 in Huntington, WV to the late Jack Flemings Davis and Betty Jayne Steinberg Davis.

Mrs. Shanks graduated from John Handley High School in 1963 and later from the Lucy Webb Hayes School of Nursing at Sibley Hospital in Washington, D.C in 1966.

She was formerly married to George Warren Shanks.

She worked as a registered nurse in several hospitals in Philadelphia and Winchester prior to pausing her professional career to raise her six children and many foster children.  She was a passionate advocate for special education in Page County, proponent for disabled rights and outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed the nature and beauty of the Shenandoah National Park regularly.  In her retirement, she returned to the workforce at Lifecare Center as an RN.

Surviving are her children: Jennifer Shanks Pray, Geoffrey Weston Shanks, Michael David Shanks, Matthew Michael Shanks, Cynthia Louise Shanks and Sarah Schyler Shanks, four grandchildren, three sisters and fourteen nieces and nephews.

A private family memorial will be convened.
