Her Life
September 25, 2017

Mrs. Whitehead was born April 14, 1941 in Newnan to the late James Henry Pate and Gladys Gertrude Boyd Pate. She was a Baptist by faith.

Family was at the center of her life. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were especially precious to her. She loved to have family get-togethers and have a home cooked meal seated at the table. It was not unusual to have fruits and vegetables Miss Patsy grew herself from her garden, which she had each year.

She retired from Publix Supermarket where she worked in the deli department. Serving her customers on a daily basis gave her great joy. She took pride in doing the best job she could for everyone who visited her at the counter.

In her spare time she liked to go shopping and watch TV. Her favorite program was “Judge Judy.”

Survivors include: her husband, Edward Lamar Whitehead; four daughters: Nikki Hackney (Carl) of Franklin, Susan Nelson (Gary) of Bowdon, Julie Whitehead of Carrollton, and Jamie Nash (James) of Temple; twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Janice Smith (Wilburn) of Roopville; and a number of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Payton.
