Our father, grandfather, brother and friend “Gil” passed away on April 20th after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. A lifelong resident of the Beaumont area, Gil enjoyed several careers but his most memorable position was working in the family business as Sales Manager of the Grapette Mr. Cola Bottling Company Inc. He was well known for his quick wit and keen sense of humor and enjoyed “picking on” all those he loved. Gil’s laughter was contagious and even as the end of his days drew near, he was still creating laughter with his new found friends. Gil is survived by his children Chris, Ethan, Gary and Shawna and more grandchildren than you can count!
Memorial contributions are encouraged and greatly appreciated and may be sent to the Cancer hospital, research or prevention organization of your choice.
We offer our most heartfelt gratitude to all of the Doctors and staff at Texas Oncology, Altus Cancer Center and Altus Hospice “The Gardens” for their most excellent care and compassion.
Tributes
Leave a tributeAnd I travel my last weary mile
Just forget if you can, that I ever frowned
And remember only the smile
Forget unkind words I have spoken
Remember some good I have done
Forget that I ever had heartache
And remember I've had loads of fun
Forget that I've stumbled and blundered
And sometimes fell by the way
Remember I have fought some hard battles
And won, ere the close of the day
Then forget to grieve for my going
I would not have you sad for a day
But in summer just gather some flowers
And remember the place where I lay
And come in the shade of evening
When the sun paints the sky in the west
Stand for a few moments beside me
And remember only my best
Leave a Tribute
And I travel my last weary mile
Just forget if you can, that I ever frowned
And remember only the smile
Forget unkind words I have spoken
Remember some good I have done
Forget that I ever had heartache
And remember I've had loads of fun
Forget that I've stumbled and blundered

My Cuz Gilwood!
Gilwood was my protector when we were kids, our Moms were sisters. When Uncle Pete owned the Grapette bottling company in Beaumont, we spent Good times! I I was the youngest Cuz, then came our KK, or Kimberly, his sister, who might I add, is my best friend! I still got picked on! but Gilwood always protected me. I had 2 brothers, and he still was there. He will be missed and thought of often, as when you get our age, you just think of the good times of childhood and treasure them. And I certainly had memorable times! Thank you Gilwood and may God hold you in his care and protection! I Love You! I've been blessed.
