For My Precious Princess

They will not go quietly
The cats who share our lives
In subtle ways they let us know
Their spirits still survive
Old habits make us think
We hear their meow at the door
Or step back when we drop
A tasty morsel on the floor
Our feet still go around the place
Their food dish used to be
Sometimes coming home at night
We miss them terribly
Although time may bring along new friends
And a new food dish to fill
There a special spot in our hearts
That belongs to them and always will.

We hear their meow at the door
Or step back when we drop
