His Life
November 2, 2016

Ralph Solomon Caulton was born on April 28, 1943 in Columbus, Georgia, the first born of eight children to James Wilborn Caulton and Juliette (Wright) Caulton.

Ralph grew up in downtown Columbus, Georgia and graduated from Spencer High School in 1961. After graduating, he worked as a barber at Jones Barber Shop during his early twenties.

He was drafted into the United States Army until he was wounded in combat during the Vietnam War. An injury that earned him a Purple Heart Medallion and the affectionate nickname “Cripp”.

He later served as a tax collector for the Consolidated Government. He was a dedicated father, brother, son, uncle and friend to many.

In the early 1980’s, he became a Firefighter until he retired after two decades due to his medical condition.

His greatest joy was riding and working on his motorcycles. He had a soft spot in his heart for the children in his neighborhood. He often gave them free bicycles and snacks; and quickly became known as the bicycle/soda man.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, his sister, Mary Lois (Caulton) Tarver, and his brother, Tyrone Caulton. He is survived by his wife, Cassandra Caulton; two sons, Robert James Caulton and Chris Solomon Caulton of Columbus, Georgia; and his daughter, Monica Anetta Caulton of Atlanta, Georgia; and stepdaughter, Cordetra (Shabazz) Landers of Columbus, Georgia; two sisters, Patricia Law of Columbus, Georgia and Anita Caulton and Joey Lyon of Snellville, Georgia; three brothers, Larry Caulton, Ronnie Caulton, both of Columbus, Georgia, and Dr. Charles and Mrs. Elaine Caulton of Milledgeville, Georgia. He will be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
