His Life

About Rick...

May 4, 2021
Richard was born in 1946 in California to the late Bill and June Ober. He is preceded in death by his sister Lois Gail, and has two brothers, Randy and Rory. Rick also has a sister-in-law, Randy's wife Nancy. Rick has many nieces and nephews. He came from a large, fun loving family who enjoyed many large family reunions over the years.

Rick was married to his first wife Diana for a total of 18 years before their divorce was final. Together they shared three beautiful daughters, Cheryl, Brandy, and Denise. They also shared a total of eight precious grandchildren.

Rick had been married to his second wife Laura for 19 years at the time of his passing. They had several beloved pets together throughout the course of their marriage.

As a young man, Rick worked as a journeyman for the Long Beach Naval Shipyard in California. He was a skilled, licensed barber, but ultimately his life's career was spent as a Market Refrigeration Specialist and a Local Union 250 member.

Rick loved classic rock, he restored two classic Camaros, he loved the mountains, he enjoyed learning about new technologies such as computer software and programming, he was very handy, he could build and/or fix almost anything, he gave his daughters numbered "father-daughter lectures" about life, and in his youth was an expert marksman having won several awards. He loved horehound candies and prime rib buffets, and was a fantastic BBQ griller. Rick had beautiful, sparkling blue eyes, the same as his father ("old blue eyes"), and would give anyone the shirt off his back if they needed it.

Rick did not wish to have a memorial or funeral service, and was cremated at his request. However he did ask that his ashes be scattered at Huntington Beach, California.
