This memorial website has been created in memory of our loved one, Richard Roberts McKay, 81 years old , born on July 24,1938 and passed away on September 2, 2019.    The many photos posted at this memorial site depict the wonderful and blessed life that Richard's wife Arlene shared with him for over 17 years.   Many family members and friends are included.  All are welcome to share personal photos, tributes, stories, etc. at this memorial site.  

Richard (aka Dick) will forever be remembered by his adoring wife of seventeen years, Arlene Lee McKay; his loving sister Shirley A. Kizilski (Bill); children from his former marriage, Scott McKay (Nancy); Richard McKay (Wendy); Robin Govan (Frank); Step Daughter Allison DeLaney (Steve); five grandsons, Ryan McKay, Matthew McKay, Kyle McKay, Randal Govan, Dion Govan. Stepgrandsons, Joseph and Benjamin DeLaney 

He will also be lovingly remembered by current sisters-in-law, Celine Knowles and Julie Hardy;  former sisters-in-law, Linda Marquis, Betty DePaolo, Beverly Wojtas; brother-in-law Robert Borchard; nephew and Godson, Peter Borchard; niece Kim McKay Brady (Scott); nephews William (Bill) and Gary Kizilski; nephew Keith P. McKay; niece-in-law Tonya Nkhata (Richard); nephew-in-law Kevin Lee; uncles, aunts, cousins, other relatives and friends, especially in Connecticut and Florida. 
Richard grew up and attended schools in Southington, CT.  In his earlier years, Richard served honorably in the National Guard.   He worked at the Wonder Bread Company, the Freihofer Bread Company and the Cott Soda Company.  He moved to Florida and opened “Quality Bagels” in Venice, FL.  Everyone knew Richard to be very hard working, kind and generous to all.  He had a positive impact on the lives of his family, many relatives, friends and acquaintances.   He met his wife Arlene in 1999 and they got married in 2002.  They moved from Venice FL to The Villages, FL in 2003 where they retired.

Richard will be fondly remembered for his many lucky streaks with the Florida lottery and casino slots.  He enjoyed playing poker with family and friends.  He had a great love for sports and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.  He enjoyed playing golf with family and friends in The Villages, FL and elsewhere for many years, especially during his retirement years.
May perpetual light shine upon Richard and may he rest in peace.
