When I think of Robert, what first comes to mind is the type of person he was. Robert was the real deal! Robert was genuine! Robert was someone you could easily get to know and someone you enjoyed and wanted to build a relationship with. We need more Robert's in this world, he was the real deal! Miss you friend.

A wonderful, caring, person! To meet Robert was to meet a new found friend ready to help his colleagues and impart knowledge to make our industry safer and more professional. He cared about our industry and wanted to protect our environment. Thank you Robert, you gave us all the ability to find answers and improve ourselves. You will always be remembered for your dedication and abilities, and never forgotten for the impact you bestowed upon our industry.

Robert was a true advocate for the green industry. He was always willing to help even when there was no financial gain for him. He always had a smile on his face and was able to put one on yours!!!! A true gentleman, scholar and friend, he will be greatly missed.

Robert had a very special gift of taking what at sometimes was not the most interesting material and making it fun and educational. The word is passion and the man was passionate.

I was always amazed at the breadth and depth of Robert's knowledge, but more so by his willingness to share it with others. He was always there when needed and the number of lives he touched in our profession can't be counted. I marveled at his enthusiasm and his drive to help others. We have lost a true friend.

I met Robert Barksdale in 1999 when I was working for Landscape Supply as a intern for the summer and was fortunate enough to get to work with Robert first hand. He taught me all that went along with working in the distribution industry, and was very instrumental for my decision to pursue it as a career.
I was later hired that following Spring into a full time position with Landscape Supply and Robert would always let me know that he was very instrumental in my hiring, before he left the company and to not screw it up. I always believed that, and looked up to him ever since. I was proud to know Robert for the short period I was able to work with him and will take the knowledge he has taught me about the green industry through the rest of my career. Robert was a staple in our Industry and will be truly missed. Thanks for all that you taught us GENERAL!!
