ForeverMissed

Bob, the man the myth the legend.

Robert Joseph Husvar of Hickory NC, (by way of New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Florida) after nearly 80 years of unexpected jokes that would get you (every time you heard it), amazing stories, long car rides, (always taking the road less traveled), to get some delectable food or baked goodie he heard about, left his earthly body on Tuesday June 1, 2021 in the generous care of the staff at Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville,NC.

After a 3 week stay at the Brian Center also in Hendersonville, where he was rehabilitating after a bought with “the Covid”. His visit will likely go down in their history. Thanks to them all for continuing to be kind and generous despite his bad behavior - to put it mildly.

In life, Bob did it ALL his way, and in the end was unable to have his way and he was not happy about it.

His nephews, (sons of his only sister Marlyn Lucov), Nick and Pete Lucov, nicknamed him “Uncle Be-Nice” for a reason. He adored those boys and had so much fun being their uncle Be-Nice.

He will be missed most by his loving, loyal, tolerant and generous wife of nearly 52 years, Rosalie Husvar, who was his sole care giver, (24/7, 365), except when she took respite bowling with friends or making a mad dash to the grocery store for some ingredient or another, Bob HAD TO HAVE NOW for some recipe, (that she rarely got to partake of and always cleaned up after). He was grateful and appreciative in his own way.

His only daughter, Dawn Husvar Farley, who resides in Charlotte, visited often for haircuts, bagel deliveries, “spirited” political debates and got to partake in those earlier recipe references. (Ahh goulash) They always found common ground over the dinner table (if no where else).

He very much loved and was proud of who she is, even when she wasn’t.

She claims his smile, sense of humor and work ethic as well as his stubbornness and doing it her way.

He was a doting, loyal son, a military veteran, yes even a hairdresser. A provider, a devoted husband, an impatient and loving father, a fun, playful and great friend and a smart and generous man.

Those that knew him, knew he loved to wear fun hats as he did in life. The guys in the local PA and NJ Construction Union knew him as “Robear”; together with his cousin Jimmy Husvar as an entrepreneur of Do-Rite Construction.

“Deli Bob”, to those in Hunterdon county who got to eat the delicious foods at one of the two deli’s he and Rosie owned.

A maintenance manager at Rock Barn golf and spa in Conover NC, and finally a great neighbor and friend to Roy Mast.
Roy took care of them both generously and selflessly. Fixing cars, computers, iPads, phones, endless trips to the store and even car trips for pizza and bagels in far away lands. Our deepest gratitude for him, Donna Yount, neighbor and friend, who brought her smile and two happy Shih Tzu pups round for visits.

To all their friends, neighbors, visiting nurses, visiting rehab people and a special prayer of gratitude to his primary care doctor, Dr Hamilton-Brandon of Northeast Family Practice in Hickory NC, who did all she could and more to encourage him to behave and care for them both as her own parents.
To everyone who was kind to him - we send you much love and our deepest gratitude for providing your generosity to make a difference for a charming old fart and his dutiful wife.

“Hey Rosaay, it’s time to go, you ready?” - Bob

See you on the other side, tell everyone your jokes and your secret recipes. Charm the pants off em, Bob!

Well hi Pop
Here we are a year later - hope it’s nice where you are. Mom and I miss you and are glad your suffering is over- we hated that for you. You wanted to go explore and eat and chat with people over a beer at the bar. Tell them your great dad jokes that got us every time (like in July when you would call mom and I to the window to see the snow and we bought it every time )
Dad, you worked hard and wanted to play hard. You did a great job providing for us and loving us the best way you knew how. If you ever didn’t feel appreciated or that you disappointed me, that’s on me. I’m sorry you didn’t ALWAYS KNOW you were loved. I miss you and hey stop messing with my tech lol I got the message and I’m not great at listening we know that

Go have some fun and enjoy yourself you’ve earned it
I love you you were a great dad !

I met Bob back in the late 80's as I was his insurance agent at De Cleene Insurance Agency and I worked in the video store where he and his family visited in Clinton, NJ. He was always joking and we would talk football every week. Who do you like this week in this game? The Husvar family were great to me over the years and I have always enjoyed our friendship. My heart aches but I know he is cracking jokes and having fun on the other side and that makes it a little easier.
