April 20, 2012

Robert (Bob) L. Rogan

5/15/32 – 4/18/12

Robert (Bob) Lawrence Rogan of New Port Richey, FL, passed away on April 18, 2012, at Gulfside Hospice in Zephyrhills, FL.  He was comforted and supported during his illness by his loving wife and best friend, Connie Reeves-Rogan.

Born in New Haven, CT, in 1932, Bob served in the U.S. Navy before graduating from the Ohio State University where he was a member of the swim team.  He then began a thirty-year career in services to people with developmental disabilities, also earning a Master’s Degree in special education from Southern Connecticut State University.  Bob served as Principal at the Southbury Training School in CT, Facility Director of the Coldwater Regional Center in Coldwater, MI, and as Superintendent of the Sunland Center in Gainesville, FL.  Bob was a long time member of the "Second Company Governor's Foot Guard in Connecticut" where he had many friends. Upon retirement, he became a real estate professional and enjoyed many years pursuing this second career working in partnership with Connie.  He had special expertise in recruiting and training people entering the real estate field.

Over the years, Bob was recognized by governors and state directors for his expertise and dedication in behalf of people with disabilities.  His administrative background, as well as a gracious and endearing demeanor, made the transition to real estate remarkably easy.  His many interests included golf, boating, swimming, reading and politics.

He was preceded in death by his parents James and Madelyn (Killoy) Rogan; sister Gladys Rogan; brother James Rogan; stepson Kenneth Potts.

Bob is survived by his wife, Connie, stepson Kevin Potts and wife, Melissa of Baytown, TX, and Ruth Potts, daughter-in-law of Pearland. Bob was blessed with six loving grandchildren, Alissa, Alana, Bailee, Paige, Blake, and Lucas.

In lieu of other consideration, the family requests memorial donations to Gulfside Regional Hospice of Pasco County.

A private ceremony will be held out on the Gulf where Bob requested his remains be placed.
