Well ours is an interesting story. My mother left him when I was 2 & took me and my infant sister out to California where we were raised. Fast forward 22 years and we were reunited. That's where our lives and the story actually begins ~ both as adults ~ and yet there was not much catching up to do per se. I was offered an invitation to come and live with his new family in Houston in exchange to have my college tuition paid for while he went overseas to Saudi Arabia to work for Bechtel. I agreed with little knowledge of Houston. We got along pretty well as long as the subject matter stayed along the lines of aircraft, women, dogs/animals and things of a superficial nature.
He was a kind man although a bit rough around the edges. We were from two completely different worlds and somehow managed to see it eye to eye. I have a family ancestor altar that I pay tribute to daily, and he's in there. Although our pasts were completely different, I feel that he knows now that my choices have made me a better person and I pray that he understands. Blessings on his soul. Sincerely,. Michael D.
