Bob was one of those people whose life reflect their faith. Bob was a great guy. He was a reliable friend. He loved his family, the farm, the veggie garden and his animals. It was sad to hear of his passing and we will miss his cheery smile. My love and thoughts to Lib, Belinda, Mel, Mark and their families. He will be sorely missed.

Great to have had him as a relative and friend of the family . He was a blessing to many (my self included), because of him being himself and because of who his Saviour is. And was always keen for a bit of fun and a laugh.

“In the end it will be ‘all right’, and if it is not ‘all right’ then it’s not the end”.

It is now ‘all right’ for Uncle Bob. What a faithful man of God, who leaves a legacy of lives saved and transformed through his faithful witness to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Heaven says “Welcome home, good and and faithful servant”.

I think back as a 19 year old while working in Albury being introduced to Bob & his family. I’m so grateful for those weekends spent on the farm, for his hospitality, generosity & the many nights that he drove us around spotlighting. He may not have realised at the time, the huge influence he had on me. He was a hard worker, loving father, devoted husband & committed follower of God. I always admired how he would do a bible reading each night at the dinner table.
He also had a cheeky sense of humour & we enjoyed many laughs on our visits, some at our expense, especially with one particular wombat !
Our family will miss you but we know you are rejoicing with the angels & we look forward to seeing you again.

I will always remember uncle Bob for his patience, his mischief, his laugh, but mostly for a rock solid faith in Jesus. When I think back, he taught me so much! How to ride a horse, how to drive a tractor, how to mark lambs, how to have fun no matter what you were doing, but also how to live out a genuine faith. I am sad at you’re passing Uncle Bob, but I don’t grieve without hope, I will see you again.

I Loved visiting The Schmidt’s on holidays when I was a teenager. There were many great trips to the Farm & I enjoyed spending time with Bob, Libby & the family. Bob loved to share God’s word at dinner time & there was plenty of banter enjoyed around the dinner table. The inevitable hunting trip was an adventure & often a highlight of our time together. Bob’s gentle warm hearted nature, the glint in his eyes, his big smile & infectious laughter are qualities I will always remember fondly. It did my soul the world of good to spend time with Bob on the farm & at Church. I looked up to Bob as a strong hard working Farmer, a Man’s Man with a generous heart & an unwavering faith in Jesus Christ our saviour. Time with the Schmidt’s in Yackandandah were heavenly experiences. I Loved You Bob - Forever Missed, Never Forgotten.

I remember Uncle Robert as a man who loved Jesus immensely. At times Uncle Rob and family would come up to Berringama and he would share something from the scriptures in our house church.

You knew when Uncle Robert had a joke to tell; a big smile would appear on his face and his laugh could get everyone else laughing with him. Uncle Robert bought joy to the people around him. A man full of life and fun and he will be missed. I remember him giving me tips and showing me how to do massage. My kids asked me recently, “Where did you learn how to massage, dad?” I said, Uncle Rob taught me.

Uncle Robert, thank you for sharing your life with us, your love for Jesus shone through your humility, warmth and friendliness and servant heartedness towards others. You will be missed.

We remember Bob as a kind man with a ready smile, and a twinkling in his eyes, like he was remembering a joke, that he was deciding whether he would share or hold for a little while longer. Bob and Libby built their family with love and honour and we are grateful that he extended his love to Daniel and our family. May the Lord bless you and keep you, Bob.

Oh! and Gary remembers the night he set his beard alight while setting off a firework!

With Jesus my Lord

When I do die
You may cry
Mourn my loss
That's why there's the cross
Of Jesus

But after a while
remember to smile
As I will be
In the company
Of Jesus

Far from death
Away from pain
Because of grace
Face to face
With Jesus

For the life I had be glad
Friend, husband, dad
My unique, quirky ways
Faithful all my days
To Jesus

Some unknown day
This I pray
You too will be
In the company
Of Jesus

He calls to you
Come, please do
Before it's too late
Make Him your best mate
The Lord Jesus

What a friend
Until the end
Whenever that be
And for all eternity
With Jesus

I'm grateful for an adventure filled childhood with Uncle Bob's big smile and cheeky chuckle around the Sunday Picnic while cutting up watermelon, or after whistling while we all sang the choruses, or tractor pulled trailer rides on bails of hay for a camp, or the occasional tug on our long plaits (if Uncle Jack didn't get in first!).
Thanks Uncle Bob for your warmth, generosity and quiet joy.

So many great memories growing up with uncle Bob. He imparted a sense of adventure, a love of horses and a lot of cheek.
Spent many a weekend on horse back herding cattle or sheep or chasing the odd fox. There may have also been instances of me sitting on the roof of the tractor as we headed off through the paddocks.
All that to say he will be missed and definitely not forgotten.
Love you lots Uncle. ❤️

From the time of the Whitefield's arrival in Yack so many years ago now Robert was a wonderful & generous friend & brother-in-Christ to us. He & his Dad Harry were always ready to help us on the farm, with the harvest and in so many ways.
Robert & Libby have impacted many lives for the Lord by their overflowing hospitality & love for people. We thank God for Robert & his faithful witness for Christ. We shall keep Libby in our prayers & always be grateful for her wonderful example of devotion & care of Robert over his last few years. Rob has gone to His heavenly home now, to His Lord & Saviour, whom he loved so much & served so well. We will always thank God for the love & witness of both Bob & Libby. Julian & Sue, & George Whitefield.
