I think I was about 9 or 10 at the time. Granny came to pick me up to spend a week with her and she said we were going to the dime store in Galax. I didn't know what a dime store was, I asked Granny if it was a store full of dimes and she started to laugh. She told me no it was a store where you could get a bargain. She took to me to Roses... I think about that day everytime I pull into the parking lot at Roses. So many memories of her. She was a loving and perfect Granny!!! Miss her!!

I will never forget when me and Tami spent the night with granny and we acted like two little kids asking granny for cookies. She stayed up late baking us cookies I think it was peanut butter for Tami and chocolate chip for me. When we were all about to go to sleep me and Tami then stanrting talking about tuna fish gravy and when we got up that morning guess what we had for breakfast. That was how she was always doing everything she could to make her family happy and to feel love. Granny wasn't rich in money but she was the richest person in love I have ever known. I pray that I can love as good as she did.

Mama loved to go to wal-mart shopping. We would always make a day of it. Leave about 10:00 in the morning, always eat lunch out, usually Long John Silvers, she loved their fish. Then off to shop. She would go down every aisle in the store. Some times she would buy something but there were times all she did was look. I use to tell her she was a crazy old woman going to wal-mart and not buying nothing. Then to the grocery side, now there is were she made up for not getting anything. After that we headed home it was now about 3:00. When we got home she would go lay down and take her nap, that walking around wal-mart looking just wore her out. Wish I could take her to wal-mart today and let her look all she wanted and not say a word. I Love you mama.
