Ruby Holder Haskins, 73, a resident of Creedmoor passed away Thursday, December 1, 2011 at her home following an extended illness.
She was born in Harnett County and lived in Sanford, North Carolina, until moving to Creedmoor in 1960. She graduated from Benhaven High School in Olivia, North Carolina and worked in Sanford, North Carolina as secretary to Lee County Sheriff D. F. Holder until moving to Creedmoor. Ruby retired in 1982 after working 15 years as a Recreational Therapist with the Children’s Psychiatric Unit at John Umstead Hospital in Butner, North Carolina. Ruby enjoyed many years as a faithful member of Creedmoor Methodist Church where she was active in Choir, Youth activities, and the Women’s Circle. She was an avid fisherman and enjoyed many years with her husband at their beach cottage in Surf City, North Carolina.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 52 years, Calvin B. Haskins, a brother Elbert Holder (Joyce)of Broadway, North Carolina, a sister, Ruth Reavis (Don) of Greensboro, North Carolina and Rita Holder of Matteson, Illinois along with many beloved nephews, nieces, extended family and friends and her beloved dog Benji. Ruby was preceded in death by her father, John L. Holder, Mother, Leona West Holder, adoptive father, Lonnie R. Holder, adoptive mother, Lola West Holder, brothers, Paul F Holder (Pansy), Arnold B. Holder (Ann), Franklin M. Holder, sisters Beulah H. Matthews (Willliam), Mamie H. Ingram (Worth) and Gladys H. West (Willard).
Funeral Services will be conducted 3:00 PM, Sunday, December 4, 2011 at the Creedmoor Methodist Church by Dr. Jonathan Jeffries and Dr. J.C. Alexander. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens in Creedmoor, North Carolina.

Visitation will be held 2:00 – 3:00 PM, Sunday, December 4, 2011 at the Creedmoor Methodist Church prior to the funeral service.
