Rufus Eugene Gray age 57, of Barbourville, was born in Knox County, Kentucky on June 22, 1949. He was a son of the Majel Grubb Gray Bays and the late Evie Gray. Mr. Gray died at his residence Wednesday, May 16, 2007. He attended the Coalport Baptist Church and Artemus First Baptist Church. Mr. Gray was a retired construction worker. He was a Marine Veteran, having served during the Vietnam Era. Along with his father, he was preceded in death by a son, Terry Evie Gray and a brother, John M. Gray. 


Surviving Mr. Gray, His Mother and Step-Father, Majel Grubb Gray Bays and husband, Jim of Artemus, Kentucky; A dear nephew whom was like a son to him, Jerald Gray of Girdler; His Sister; Judy Ann Gray Bargo and husband, Estill of Brownstown, Michigan; His Brothers; Elmer Lee Gray of London; James Ray Gray and Wife Kathy of Artemus, and Ted Gray of Mount Vernon, Kentucky.

Funeral Services for Rufus Gray will be conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. B.F. Jackson and Rev. John Engel officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Sowders Cemetery at Coalport, Kentucky with James Gray, Jerald Gray, Ballard Collins, Michael Cox, and Gary Bargo serving as pallbearers. The Gray Family will receive friends at the Hopper Funeral Home, Saturday after 11:30 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements will be under the direction of Hopper Funeral Home.
