Our favorite picture

September 5, 2014

This picture was originally meant to be an official picture portrait of Robbie, but it is one of the best pictures of Mom and everyone's favorite.  It is wonderful to think that Mom and Robbie are together again, taking long walks through gorgeous meadows and strolling along the white-sand beaches just like they did before.

Memorial Rock, Mt. Washington, NH

September 5, 2014

Janice and Megan created this memorial rock for Mom on August 25th while at the top of Mt. Washington.  Jan said the view made her feel closer to both Heaven and Mom.

Brunch after Megan's Christening

August 30, 2014

This picture was taken at brunch after Megan was Christened...I can't remember the name of the restaurant but it was somewhere in the Elizabethtown, PA area and would have been in early 1995.

Dinner with Mom

August 30, 2014

I wish I could remember what it was the waiter said that made everyone laugh so hard, but it was really good!  This was the year we decided to give Mom a break from cooking Thanksgiving dinner and we went to a restaurant along with water for a Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings!

Mom loved coming to visit me in Washington; this had to have been taken in 1995 or 1996 when Meg was around one year old.

In a later visit to DC (2003 I think) Mom went with me to St. John's Church one Sunday morning (where I taught Sunday School) and got to meet George and Laura Bush, who attended there regularly.  Afterwards I took Mom to see a brood of ducklings that had nested in front of the Treasury Building, and we got there just as the ducklings were being relocated to a nearby stream.  Mom and I followed and watched as the ducklings were released with the mother duck.  For the rest of the day all Mom could talk about was watching the ducklings being relocated - apparently meeting the president of the United States took second place when it came to ducklings!

George took this picture of Grandma (Mom's mother), Mom, Jan and me on the front porch of their house on Bernard Drive right before we left for Jan and Curt's wedding.

This early family portrait was taken around 1970 when I was around 8 or 9 and Jan was 11 or 12.  Mom would have been somewhere in her mid- to late-thirties.  I think Mom must have been a fan of the Mary Tyler Moore Show or That Girl because she sported this hairstyle for many years!

Mom's allergies to cats meant that she wasn't able to keep Scooter, the amazing cat that thought she was a dog!  Scooter came to live with me when she was about 3 years old, and lived a long and happy life with her feline brothers and sisters in Washnigton, DC.  Mom would always ask how Scooter was doing, and she and George came down to be with me when Scooter was ill and needed to be put to sleep.  I can only imagine the great joy and happiness that Mom and Scooter shared when they were just recently reunited!

George introduced Mom to German Shepherds, and from that point on Mom was never without one or two at her side.  Robbie and Casey were two of her favorites, and Mom enjoyed taking many pictures of them playing together.

It brings me great joy to think that Mom is able to experience the love of these beautiful animals again:  Sheba, Nicky, Mandy, Robbie, Casey, and Pavlov (who she never met on Earth, but who I am sure she has since met in Heaven!)
