Make your own ketchup! Ketchup wasn’t allowed in her kitchen, unless it was homemade. I had a great grandmother, who on her deathbed requested cheese cake. It was Chef Porter’s recipe that I baked, Mother Anne was quite impressed. She inspired a love of cooking in me that still burns brightly. I made many friends in her class that I spend time with to this day. She will be dearly missed. Very few stars shine as bright or leave such a lasting impression as she did. I will remember you fondly Chef. Sorry I burned your hand with that blueberry compote.

Chef Porter was a great instructor. She was a wonderful person and a true inspiration to all her students at Hinds Community College. I'm glad I had the chance to be one of the many students she touched in life. She was a warrior, a fighter, and loving person. I will always carry Chef Porter in my heart and will always have great memories of the most awesome teacher. The last conversation we had she told me I was a great student that made me smile and left a warm feeling in my heart. I send my prayers & condolences to Chef Porter's family she will be missed and loved by many

I have many wonderful memories of working with Sally at Viking Cooking School.  She was so much fun to work with and made the time pass quickly.  I always learned something from her, no matter what the topic we were teaching that day, Sally was full of interesting knowledge.  I saw her last summer at MS Sports Medicine and she looked pretty good.  She said “let’s get together soon” and I really regret that we never did.  RIP Sally.  We will all miss you.  Praying for Sally’s family
