Serge was born on February 26, 1969 in Ngoulmekong, Cameroon.

Mr. Ekani served as Senior State Auditor at the Supreme State Audit Office for the Presidency of the Republic of Cameroon where he worked toward accountability and responsibility of government service, state owned corporations, and local government authorities. 

He became a Humphrey Fellow in 2015.  He studied at the University of Montana and at Michigan State University.  His goals while in the Humphrey program included enhancing his knowledge of financial law and the financial market system, audit techniques as practiced in the United States by working with audit organizations.  He also focused on the investigation of fraud.

He is survived by his wife, Francoise Mbeza, three children: Odile Diane Nagh Ekani, Herve Fritz Ekani, and Arthur Miguel Ekani, and his father, Ernest Ekani.
