Sheilah Broom born August 17th, 1937 passed away on October 19th, 2019 to join her beloved husband Brian V Broom to dance in the heavens for eternity. Sheilah was surrounded by many of her loving family in Maplewood MN as God took her home. She is preceded in death by her parents Leonard Sr and Georgina Payne of Newfoundland, Canada along with all nine of her siblings.
Sheilah, will be dearly missed by her two daughters, Louise Broom-Peltz (Claude Peltz) NH, Jennifer Broom-Benesch (Paul Benesch) MN and 5 grandchildren: Jacqueline and Nathanael Broom-Bates, Danielle and Brian Broom-Peltz and Matthew Benesch along with countless friends on the east coast and all around the world.
In order to describe the essence of who our mother Sheilah was, she was kind, loyal, generous to a fault, and loved to help others without sometimes anyone knowing nor ever expecting anything in return. Mom loved to entertain, create meals fit for a king and make a perfectly good stranger welcome to a wonderful meal, glass of wine or a cup of tea. You may have been fortunate to receive a pint of blueberries by surprise, a warm pie, or if you were family, you better check pockets and inside things to look for hidden presents inside your birthday or Christmas gifts. There are memories of mom aka nana delivering Cheesecake to a bonfire filled with young people and friends.Memories of the aroma of Beef Stew as you walked through the door on a cold winter day.The table neatly set and elegant even if for a simple family meal. Memories of Mom and Dad dancing in the kitchen hundreds of times. The trips to the Butcher Boy to go visit Joe the Butcher, everyone knew mom by name, picked out the best cuts to cook for her for the family, how I enjoyed the trips with mom to the Butcher Boy on my visits. Then there is the Happiness song.Mom, Louise and J will miss you along with all who knew and loved you. We thank you for teaching us the gift of kindness, love, generosity, loyalty and that never giving up and hard work are values that we embrace and carry with us because of you and dad.

Sheilah was in her lifetime a: daughter, nurse, wife, mother, friend, grandmother, mother-in-law, hotel businesswoman, volunteer, part time during retirement at pottery barn, and Canobie lake park.

A Celebration of life will be held on Wednesday November 13th, 2019 from 5pm to 9pm in the Fireside room of Keller Golf Course Clubhouse, with the remembrance and honoring of Sheilah beginning at 6pm.

"Golden Threads of Sunshine"

November 12, 2019
For our dear Sheilah and her wonderful, loving family, I would like to reshare a letter I had written for her 75th Birthday:
"Golden Threads of Sunshine"
When we first met, I knew you simply as the mother of my new college roommate! Little did I know how much more I would discover as time went on! Your ability to encourage and empower others showed up time and time again and became the words that will always embody who you are for me!
From countless sleepovers at Samoset Drive… to being asked my 18-year-old opinion on politics… to inviting me to meet Ronald Reagan… your interest in my opinions and my life were very encouraging and empowering!
As time progressed, I would get to know you more. During my college days at UNH, I would get to know you as an extremely supportive and caring woman. Although I had many priceless memories during my years at UNH, somehow I will never forget having that case of Tab arrive every time it was finals week!!  Thank you!!
During the 1980 Olympics, I would also get to know you as an extremely FUN woman as we all shared that unforgettable moment in history when the U.S. Hockey team won gold!! I don’t think your home office was ever the same!!
Over the decades to come, I would also get to know you as a fellow Leo… loyal and proud… through and through!! I am very proud to share being a Leo with you! You are a wonderful role model for woman everywhere!
Fast forward through graduations (and, yes, I am responsible for myself that day!)… through showers… and weddings… and funerals. These priceless moments have woven you deeply into the tapestry of my life!!  And for that I am very grateful!!!
You are golden threads of sunshine, encouragement and empowerment Sheilah!  You are an angel and a blessing and I am very honored to have you in my life!
Happy, Happy 75th Birthday!!!
Love always and forever,
Lynn Piper
