Nell was my mother-in-law and friend. For the last 16 years she loved our children, and baked countless special deserts for them, (always from scratch), did loads of crafts with them, sat around the fire with them and told stories, and turned Mineola into a gathering place on holidays or anytime. Her kitchen table was always open for a meal, some laughs, and a game of 42. I loved Nell, and still can’t believe she’s gone.
Nell was a gifted artist and she would hand paint birthday cards she sent. Last year mine had a beautiful sunflower on it, and Luke’s had a painting of Marie Lavoe with her voodoo hair! I loved the way Nell would take ordinary items and upcycle them and create something useful and beautiful. Nell and Buddywere an example to many of us of what deep love looks like. She’s free now, and I will think of her as a guardian angel. We all miss you Granny Nell, and hope your enjoying a game of dominoes in Heaven with your mom and dad. ♥️
