I met Ron when I was 20 years old. He was the father of the woman who by some miracle fell in love with me. Ron approved of the match and he felt I could cope with the role of Lise's husband and the father to her children-you see in his eyes Lise was the most remarkable, capable and admirable person so he wouldnt give her away lightly. Thank you for that Ron ( and Bev).
At 20 I didnt really understand the significance of "Sir" and thought that it meant that he must be rich. But as the years rolled on and Ron and I discussed and at times became involved in various projects together, I realised that Ron's driver was never money. You see Ron had a passion for life and he just wanted to be involved in helping create and build and organise socially significant and useful things. He was not a financial entrepreneur but he was, most definitely, the ultimate social entrepreneur ( and the consummate salesman!) who wanted to be remembered for what he gave not for what he gained. I only just recently really understood that lesson Ron, so thank you for that.
Lastly, Im happy that for thirty nine years I had the privilage to share food, good wine and and good times with a man that became my friend. Thanks for that Ron.
