It was my Honor and Privilege to have served along side SPC Herold during our deployment to Iraq.
Forever my life will be impacted from the short period of time God allowed me to know him.
I witnessed a sea of soldiers stand at the Position of Attention for HOURS on the flight line on FOB Kalsu so that they may have the opportunity to Salute SPC Herold as his body was HONORABLY carried from the Medical station onto a Black Hawk helicopter for his final ride home.
I can attest that SPC Herolds send off was one of Honor and deep Respect from those in attendance, there were no cameras, no media present to document the act, it gives me goosebumps still to this day the image of soo many who stood shoulder to shoulder occupying the pathway in the dark silent night to say goodbye with a slow disciplined salute as Herolds Flag draped remains were carried in an incredible show of military precision from those who requested to carry him out of the medical tent and down the flight line onto the Black Hawk.
SPC Herold, till the day I die I will speak about you and how this world would be a better place if you were still here.
