I've known of Stan since high school. I distributed a newspaper in high school published by son Harvey--"The Fifth Estate". Years after I was an invited guest speaker presenting on Comet Halley at the Institute for Amorphous Studies (est. by Stan) . A great person whose contributions in so many areas are immeasurable.......He will be sorely missed.

The World, and personally myself, are better because of Stan. I believe, Stan worked toward creating a world of boundless energy, without borders and of one Human race. Within ECD we had this - imagine the world living as we luckily did at ECD. Stan will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

Well that’s it, TDG was advanced, let’s forget about the rest. You live on in space-time so, see you tomorrow or yesterday as you like. By the way, change my chance battery I think it’s a bit flat, especially on R-3 SSTM, it would be a great adventure. Sorry for the change up on health, I even got twins, imagine. Friendly yours.

Stan had the remarkable ability to convey a Vision for his technology that made every person in the room walk in its new world as if it had already happened. Every home and factory powered by solar with efficient battery storage, distributed electrical power in every village, no more wars fighting for oil, reducing the impact of poverty, He and his dreams will be missed.

Stan has been a dear friend of my father, Umberto Colombo, who has joined him in ECD for many years. We had the chance of meeting a few times here in Italy and in the US and have remained in touch when my father has passed away in 2006. I could appreciate how a great person he was. Many condolences to Rosa and to the whole family also on behalf of my mother Milena

I've followed Stanford R. Ovshinsky because of his brilliance and concern for the future the of the planet. He loved cars and wanted to bring them more into harmony with the world.  The electric car was a dream for him and a reality that is eminent.  His contribution to this world will be felt by future generations that will breathe cleaner air.  I will remember him always for this.

Stan came to Lake Orion Middle School on career day in the 80's when I was just a student, and I remember him showing us some amazing things that he was working on. He helped inspire my life-long love of science and our natural world. He has changed us all and been a most positive influence in the world. Thank you for all that you gave us, Stan.

So many memories of Stan, Harvey, Ben and all. Stan used to take us to his shop on Saturdays, we'd play with the tools, ride the little tractor and then go to the deli. He was always so fun to be around, he treated us like people not children.
What a life, what accomplishments. I truly am sorry for the families loss.

Stan is the rarest of men - a brilliant inventor, an extraordinary leader and a genuine humanitarian. Very few people in all of human history have made the contributions to technology and to helping humanity find the right path forward. Stan Ovshinsky will be greatly missed but will remain with us in spirit forever. David Stevenson

How many like me? How many lives forever touched? Young minds shaped and mentored? Values sharpened? Clarity and direction. Encouragement and admonishment. Inspiration and Example. When a philosopher learns that it is science, technology, and knowledge that changes the world, the lesson sticks. Through Stan I got connected to generations ... past and future. Thanks Stan.

Dearest Ovshinsky family,
We are so sorry to hear of Stan's passing. Growing up, hearing stories about Stan from both our uncle Dombey and our own mother and father, we got a sense of what a truly remarkable man Stan was. Reading all these tributes today we see it even more.
Our deepest condolences. Our thoughts are with you all.

The world has lost a true leader in the scientific community and a genuine, caring soul. His death is a pivotal point in defining the end of an era of self-made men. Stan was also a very generous man, speaking to my students several times since the 1980's and as keynote at Lawrence Tech's SOS2010 Sustainability Conference. My students loved him. He was my hero. We will all miss him.

First and foremost stan was a kind, loving, human being,he defined humanity. Beyond that he defined science(amorphous state of matter) who until his vision denied this reality even from til then the greatest mines of our time could not capture. Any time with Stan was very special for everyone. I will never forget a 3 hr lunch he invited me to join him and Dr.Edward Teller. The AHAH moment.

I met Stan in 1971 when I first joined ECD. Being able to be a part of the ECD family was a unique experience spearheaded by Stan's and Iris's drive committement, and principles. I worked with Stan on three different occasions and He taught me a lot. He provided not just an environment for technological development but also one for human development. May he rest in peace.

"Very few people have the chance to be associated with a great man like Stan in life. I am one of the lucky ones. His passion for science and society inspires me for the rest of my life and he will always live within my heart"

Stan wrote an op ed piece for the Fifth Estate around 1966. That writing left a permanent impression on me. For anyone who thinks that all engineers are cold and uncaring, Stan proved daily that such an idea is not true. His ability to think across all disciplines to create for the betterment of humankind earns him a place in history with the greats. His ideas will endure.

Yes he was like a father to me also. I was with ECD for almost my entire working life, until just this very year. I owe that all to Stan and his commitment to better this world. I learned most of my engineering skills while being a part of ECD and Stan's dreams. he will be missed greatly and it's my prayer that the Lord will grant him peace.
