Words cannot express how great of a person Stephanie is, and how much she will be missed. It hurts so much to hear of her passing, and our hearts go out to her family and other friends, most especially her sisters, parents, Schaun and the boys. I've known Stephanie well since sophomore year of High School (1991). She invited me to some dances, and I was in many classes with her where she far outstripped my level of academic achievement. Not only was she smart, but she was a good friend, she and her sister were always a pleasure to be around, whether it was eating lunch together or studying for physics. They also patiently put up with my and others antics when we practiced our Grease performance for Airbands-- we ended up placing in the top 3 when we performed-- truly a testament to Stacey's and Stephanie's choreography and organizational skills (and patience). I know I was an immature pain in the butt as a high schooler, and Steph took it well! It was also wonderful to share our faith with each other, even though we were different Christian denominations.
It was also a privilege to know Stephanie as an adult. I am fortunate to have lived in San Diego from 2003-2007 and be invited to many events at Stephanie and Schaun's house- from ornament exchanges to general get-togethers. Stephanie was there when I announced I was going to ask my girlfriend to marry me, and Stephanie was also there virtually when we had children and she did as well. We were able to link her up with Veronica's cousin who was also having nursing issues. I know her friendship and companionship was valued by all, even if personalities were different. This is a big loss, but her memories will always be there with us. It's a reminder that we are never guaranteed tomorrow. Hold everyone close to you as tightly as you can, and remember the blessings of those dearly departed. Stephanie, you angel, we miss you.
