Steven was the only constant friend I had in YM's, Boy Scouts, LDS Church, friend at school, and co-Stake Missionaries before our missions. We met only twice after our missions were over many years ago. I will always cherish his friendship, his smile, his optimism, and his contagious laugh. I look forward to meeting my friend again. Many heart felt prayers to all wonderful Strickland family members...love you all!

I have so many memories with the whole Strickland family. They were great friends who helped our family a lot. Steve always treated me like a younger brother and always had a big smile and enthusiasm for life. I was blessed to spend some time with him when he came back to Arkansas and stroll down memory lane. Till we meet again, my brother.

I served in the Texas Houston East mission 94-96. My first area was in Dickinson. Being a new missionary is a hard thing. How lucky I was to meet the Strickland family. Stephen and I both shared common interest in the outdoors and we spent a lot of time talking about hunting and fishing. The friendship we shared was something I'll always cherish. He was a great guy. I have so many great memories from hanging out with the family and being myself. I was introduced to true southern food and cooking. Stephen was one of the best cooks I've ever met. Everything he made was incredible. He had a contagious smile and laugh. I could always feel the love he had for his family. I'm so sorry for your loss. I'll always remember him with fondness and special thanks for being a friend when I needed one most.

What a blessing to have had a fun cousin like Steve. He always had ideas for great things to do,...like taking us "hunting" for an Arkansas razorback at night....we didn't even know what a razorback was! He always had a joke ready to play on us. He was a cousin with a big laugh and smiling eyes.
We will miss him. He was special to the Byrnes cousins.
Our prayers are with you all.

A Tribute to a Great Man

A tribute to a great man.
He was a cousin, an uncle, a brother,
A father, a son, and a friend.
He will not be forgotten.
He taught us the true meaning
Of loving everyone we meet.

To the one who loved hunting
Including the African Safari.
To the one who could tease his mom
And get away with it.
To the one who claimed “Brownie did it”.
To the one who could fry
The best Thanksgiving turkey.
To the one who could bring a smile
To the saddest of faces.

To the human teddy bear.
To the one who teased you until you cried
But you secretly loved it.
To the one who blew darts
And accidentally hit someone.
To the one who built
And repaired roads in the military.
To the one who showed an example
Of loving unconditionally.

The more we notice, the more we live
And the more we remember
Our favorite memories of those we love.
To one of the greatest examples out there,
The love you had for us
And the love we have for you is infinite.
Your memory will be in our hearts forever.

I met Steve while serving my mission in Arkansas. He would come with us to teaching appointments and it was always fun. Later he was a brother in law, friend and hunting buddy! I will remember the time when he shot a sage hen over 100 yards away with a pistol! We had a great laugh and some sage hen over that one!

So many memories of Steve. When we were little we used to spend alot of time with him. I remember being shot in the leg with a dart. I'm told it was Steve who did it, I don't quite remember that part, just getting hit in the leg. Also he and Clay would throw me down the stairs to eachother. There was always lots of laughter whenever he was around. I love you Uncle Steve and will miss you so much!
