Steve Bistrow was born in Gary, Indiana in 1947, son of an imigrant father from Macedonia and an American mother.

He became a self-taught musician and played guitar professionally in several bands. His love for music was such that he once said his third favorite day in his life was when his hero, Duane Eddy, came to visit him (his first and second days was the birth of his daughter, Dana, and his marriage to his wife, Janice). 

He was a devoted family man, married to a woman he met during a performance, Janice Mullins for nearly 50 years. Together, they had a daughter, Dana (prounounced "Donna"). Besides being a professional musician, he's worked as an executive sales manager at Custom Chrome and Treasurer on the Board of Directors at Armstrong Laboratory. 

He is survived by his wife Janice, daughter Dana and son-in-law John.
