Loss of a great boss

Such a great loss, my memories of Steve as part of Sears, as a young DSM he so impressed me because as the CEO of Sears Hometown he always took time to make sure and recognize even a new dsm to the company. Years ago when I heard ‘the length of a minute depends on which side of the bathroom door you are on’ I recalled an incident from when I was very small. I was standing in line for the only bathroom at Granny Price’s house afraid I wouldn't make it to the door in time but far too shy to say anything. Steven, who had to be a teenager at the time, was in front of me. He looked at me with compassion and, without a word, changed places with me. The fact I still remember that incident so clearly – 50 years later ! – speaks to how grateful I was for his act of kindness -- to a little girl he hardly knew.
