Suzan Diane Crouse passed away at home surrounded by family and friends on March 31, 2019 at the age of 82. Sue was born to Walter and Elaine Pearson on February 5, 1937 in Warren Pennsylvania and graduated from Slippery Rock State Teachers College in Pennsylvania in 1959 after marrying her college sweetheart Gerald Crouse.

Soon after the birth of their first daughter, Sue and Jerry moved to California where she began a teaching career in the Richmond Unified School District. Sue’s expertise was teaching third grade and after thirty-five years in the classroom, she retired in 1998. From 1963 to 1981 Jerry and Sue spent the summers working at the Richmond Country Club Pool where they built fond memories for their family and lasting friendships with club members. Later, summers were filled with regular family camping and boating trips to Lake Berryessa and a road trip across the United States and back.

Sue was a woman of deep faith and the family attended First Presbyterian Church of Berkeley for over forty years. Sue was an active member of the church and participated in bible studies, all-church family conferences at Mt. Hermon and volunteered for the annual church book sale by sorting and organizing countless books of all varieties. Sue was an avid reader her entire life and enjoyed historical fiction and biographies, logging more than one thousand titles during her twenty years of retirement alone. Along with reading, she loved cooking and traveling to historic sites throughout the US, Europe and the Holy Land.

But, Sue’s number one love and interest was her family. She supported and loved her husband and children with an unflagging, unconditional commitment as a devoted wife, selfless mother and supportive grandmother. She will be missed dearly. Sue is survived by her husband Gerald Crouse of Pinole, CA.; her daughters Deborah Crouse, Dianne Provenzano and her husband Nick Provenzano, and Jennifer Mora and her husband Mario Mora; her grandchildren Jessica, Nicolas, Mateo, Myrranda and Milena; and her brother Steve Pearson and his family of Phoenix AZ.
