This memorial website was created in loving memory of Sylvia Leal.  63 years old , born on June 18, 1947 and crossed over to be with Jesus on January 13, 2011.

Sylvia Leal was always known for her compassionate heart. She radiates love and has a way of making all of us feel loved and important. Her spirit is alive, present, and always with and watching over us.  Sylvia was a wife, a mother and a grandmother, a CEO of one of the most successful organization of Child Care Services, a great cook, a motivated speaker, a gardener, an amazing friend, and an incredible human being. She was blessed with 63 years of LIVING AND LOVING and that's exactly how she wants us to remember her by. She wants to be remembered by the beautiful happy memories she created with each of us. She wanted every thought and image to be of her happy. She loved life and she loved living her story with all of us.
Our Sylvia leaves her legacy of life to be cherished and carried on by her amazing work and contribution to our community, to our children, and to the families.
If you happen to be passing by and reading this, don't be shy to share a message, a tribute, or perhaps a prayer. The point is to keep the best happy memories alive and not forgotten and to focus on her love instead of focusing on sadness or loss. She never left us after all; she's alive in each one of us.

When I start with Plasp I was at Head office for some training all of a sudden in walks this beautiful english lady, the girl beside said oh shes our CEO. Sylvia said Good morning to everyone and proceeded to ask certain people how they were, well I knew she wouldnt say anything to me because I had never met her before today. Well much to my surprise she said how are you today Pauline I said I was fine a little nervous but ok .She said in her British accent dont be nerouvs we are family here. She sat with our group for about 10 mins laughed with us then excused herself. From that moment I knew this was the place for me, because the beautiful bristish accent lady said I was apart of the the family. She was a very classy lady, I'm sure she would be proud of the way her little child care has grown and how big her family has gotten and the job our new CEO is doing RIP Sylvia

When I think about Sylvia, I think about a strong caring leader who had a clear and inspiring Vision for Child Care a place where children are respected, valued and understood.
I also remember being first year at PLASP, walking into HO and greeted by Sylvia by my first name... CEO knowing my name? Wow...
I've learnt that no matter how high or low one is on an organizational ladder, it's important to choose genuine, caring approach just like Sylvia.

I had the pleasure of working with Sylvia for over 20 years. It was under her leadership that I grew as a person and a leader. Her confidence in me encouraged me to embark on a long and rewarding career path with PLASP. I will be forever grateful for the time we had together and she will remain in my heart forever.

I had pleasure of knowing Sylvia over the first few years of my tenure at PLASP. She was always supportive, personable warm and caring towards all staff (and hosted the best Christmas parties!) She had a way of making everyone around her feel special. She will always be thought of and dearly missed.

I prayed to the Lord for u today
I asked God to hold you tight
From the bottom of my heart
A prayer full of love to u I recite

I could feel your smile
each time I called your name
because I talk to God quite often
and my prayers are the same.

I pray that God’s light shines upon your soul
every minute of every day.
And to always be at your side
and with you along the way.

I pray that God will give you peace
and shower you with His love.
I pray that He smiles on you
And His blessings be upon your soul in heaven above

I pray For God's love to surround you
As I sit here next to your resting place
And may His presence be with you
as He covers you with His grace.

I just needed to hear your voice before we start this different school year.
Wondering what your daily morning message to us would be.
In this difficult time we miss you and your voice we just needed to hear.
You're still alive in each one of us and in our hearts so very dear
Making us strong and still growing after 45 years

Thank you for your presence, thank you for your love, thank you for being with us from heaven above.

"Children want to be where they are cared for, respected and understood," That is what Sylvia Leal believed in and lived for. She was the heart of our community who is committed to safe, quality childcare, and early childhood education.

Sylvia Leal who had excellence and perfection in everything she did passed away unexpectedly and too soon at age 63. She built partnerships with many organizations, adding her passion and valuable experience to create better opportunities for children and families.

She is always remembered for her wonderful, caring contribution to our community and is greatly missed by the many thousands of children, parents, staff, and community partners who have had the privilege of working with her.

Highly Effective Mentor

September 4, 2021
Sylvia facilitated growth in the skills of others by being a highly effective mentor. Her methods as a mentor were subtle, persistent and funny. She could be direct, but often acted indirectly and was a master at “leading from behind”.
