Orange County Memories

January 27, 2019

It was a sunny Orange County day and we were driving east on Lake Forest Drive after a nice cheap lunch (El Pollo Loco), Teresa always told me "that's not real Mexican food! haha and she was right but given the very Anglo location of our weekend getaway, what other choice was there?

The windows rolled down on my van, Teresa complaining that my AC was crap lol, so to impress her with my fashion sense or lack there of, I put on what I thought to be nifty looking sunglasses, I thought they made me look like Bono, yea right! lol but she did admit that they fit my round head or bowling ball head as she would tease lol perfectly. Feeling pretty darn good for getting that compliment we came to a stop light, I looked over to talk with her then lo & behold! the right lens comes flying out of my stylish $10 sunglasses! Well I kept a straight face and she took one look then burst into her famous infectious laugh. She begged me to take them off or she would pee herself! of course I kept them on! lol I told her watch this and I stared at the car next to me at the light getting their attention and smiled then looked back at Teresa who was by then squealing, giddy with laughter at the fool I was being! I tell you this, how I kept my van on the road was a miracle because seeing her smile and laugh like that was worth every second of driving with only one lens in my cheap sunglasses, being silly, being the fool and loving every second of it, both of us laughing until we were crying!

If moments were gold then I would be a rich man thinking back to all the times we laughed and giggled, Teresa would bring that moment up to me over and over as we talked through the years, I will treasure it all my days, it wasn't anything grand or monumental but simple and pure in the joy you share with a loved one, the good times that are kept with us to have and hold in our heart.
