I am thankful for the long standing ministry of our brother Tom who was a faithful minister of the gospel, writer and dear friend. I often called Tom with my many questions about the Scriptures and he was always most kind and helpful. I will thank God upon every remembrance of Tom and and his dear wife Luann. Blessed to know them!

In Memory Of Tom Wells

December 26, 2019
I first met Tom in 1952 when he was living at the YMCA on Central Parkway.
We were both working at The City Gospel Mission on Magnolia Street,
under the leadership of Marguerite Conn. At that time the mission was
a rescue mission primarily for alcholics, Tom.s mother  worked
there preparing and serving daily meals. Tom and I were kept busy
preaching and conducting services  daily after the meals.  I was assigned the task of doing
the funerals. In that same period of time, Tom was engaged at the
Greater Cincinnati Youth for Christ rallies meeting every Saturday
night at 8th and Elm streets. It was in those meeting. that he met his
wife. We were painting a yellow school bus all white for Youth For
Christ when a call came in and Tom rushed me off to Good Samaritan Hospital
to witness the birth of my second son.

Tom and I would make weekly trips to the Main Book Store to pore over
volumes of books to enable us to be more effective in the Ministry,
was able to share this knowledge with his listeners/
Tom was able to build a substantial library that gave him great knowledge
which  he shared  with his listeners.

Tom was a member of a quartet with Jim Bowe, Jim Morganroth and George Fisher.  They met bi-weel;u at tje p;d Froscjes Restairant pm Central Parkway.
Now, there is a quartet in heaven, singing praise to our Savior.
I am forever grateful for Tom"s
friendship and the many times and experiences we had together.

Initial encounter

December 26, 2019
Many years ago (maybe in the early 70’s) some of the family of my now deceased wife Charlotte (1943-1998) were looking for a church where the doctrines of grace were believed and taught and I joined in the search. I don’t remember how I heard of a pastor in Cincinnati named Tom Wells, but on one of our trips to the States, I was able to get in touch with him and arrange a meeting.

He later gave his impression of the meeting. After asking him quite a few questions (giving him a “3rd degree grilling”??), I “reckoned” I would recommend that they visit the church.

I didn’t make a very good impression on him in that first meeting, but brother Tom was gracious and I praise the Lord to this day for that encounter and all the good that came of it in my own life and in the life of Charlotte’s mother Katherine and her brother Curt and his wife Nora and their children (and others?).
