Her Life

Youngblood, Ms. Veronica, 50, was born November 24, 1964 in Union Springs, AL to the union of Mr. Wallace Youngblood Simmons and Lola Youngblood, who both preceded her in death.  

In her teen years, her family moved to Chicago, IL where she was baptized at New Canaan Land Missionary Baptist Church. She attended Dyett High School and graduated from DuSable High School. Veronica was known for her intelligence. She skipped the sixth and eighth grade. She was also known for being exceptional dancer.    

At the age of 27, she gave birth to the love of her life, her wonderful son, Demetrix, whom she adored.  

She transitioned into eternal rest Monday, January 26, 2015. A celebration of life service was held Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Old Sardis Baptist Church with Rev. George Ivey, Pastor, officiating.  

Her loving spirit and memories will remain in the heart of her son, Demetrix Youngblood, Yazoo City, MS; her lifetime partner, Willie “Pookie” Hall; four loving sisters, Ms. Patricia Youngblood, Atlanta, GA, Mrs. Jennice (Alex) Haynes, Kansas City, MO, Ms. Cynthia Youngblood, Chicago, IL and Ms. Kimberly Simmons, Union Springs, AL; five devoted brothers, Mr. Clifford (Linda) Burton, Columbus, GA, Mr. Wallace (Dorothy0 Harris, Union Springs, AL, Mr. Curtis “Jerome” Manley, Mr. Wallace Youngblood, Jr., both of Chicago, IL, Mr. Markis Austin, Union Springs, AL and Mr. Darrell (Clarissa) Austin, Dallas, TX; Godmother/aunt, Barbara Manley, Chicago, IL; along with many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.   The staff of Carter Funeral Home is honored to have served the family of the late Ms. Veronica Youngblood and join the family in an extreme expression of gratitude for the care and support extended to them during the illness and demise of their precious loved one.
