I really miss Virgie, my wife of 45 years. We met in Anchorage, Ak, in early 1970. Right off, I was impressed by her devotion to God. We went through many joys and hardships together and she was always loving and loyal to me even though I know she had to put up with a lot in me. She was even tempered and not moody.
She was a woman of deep conviction which she held even unto death. She rarely missed a day of bible study and prayer and I can count on the fingers of one hand the Lord's Days she missed (and that because of sickness) in 60 years as a Christian.. She dearly loved
camps and rally's and other special church events.
We had Van Jr. together and he was a joy to raise, and she did more than her part in instilling the things of God into him. She was truly like the woman of Prov. 31:10-31. She also truly sighed and cried (Ezek. 9:4) over the condition of some souls and the church in general. Even on her death bed she was concerned.
She labored hard on earth but now she rests forever. I whispered into her ear before she died, "You have fought the good fight, you have finished the course, you have kept the faith; .in the future there is laid up for you the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge will award to you on that day; and not only to you, but also to all who have loved his appearing." II Tim 4:7-8.
I will certainly miss her and so will many others whose lives she influenced. I praise God for having known her. I can go to her, but she cannot come back to me.
