In Memory of Our Grand Father:
Nguyễn Ngọc-Văn
(1897-1935)
Grandpa was born in the city of Qui-Nhon in the Binh-Dinh province. When he was a young boy, his family moved down south to settle in the Binh-Thành village, Ninh Hòa district, province Khanh Hòa.
We were told that Grandpa was a very modern man. While most friends still used the traditional turban to hold their long hair, Grandpa had his hair cut short. He also wore western-style clothes very often.
Maybe that explained why Grandpa was appointed as the village chief. Nevertheless, Grandpa was known as a decent and respectable man in town. He was really a gentleman.
