Wilma and I were riding through the Interborough Parkway, past your resting place last Thursday (on our way to a viewing!),....when she asked me how long ago it was since you had left us, Brother Wally...... I could not remember so I later googled "Wally Griffith" and lo and behold,...I found this memorial....It will be... (in a few days).... a full eleven years since that day....but you are still alive in our memories, and mine in particular..
I remember the affable man you were. I remember you as an "officer and gentleman" type. Your passion and contribution to the XGDF vision was exceptional. You were a partner of distinction in that regard.... I miss you..... "We, miss you" my friend..... You were a unique glue that helped keep and grow the organization, positively, in pursuit of that vision......... especially when it came to the bonding of "different ranks". The XGDF Association would not BE...without your sterling contributions.....I am not being overly generous, Brother Wally......I truly believe that.
I remember your gutsy revelation to the membership just prior to your departure. I remember your last request to me, for a curry session at my office, with the boys, to watch a game and play rap....you did not rap, but you rocked in a chair and reminisced...
I now shed a tear for you and ...and, and think...what if...what if?
