Alice and I met at Montgomery Ward almost 33 years ago as we worked in the same department. It was the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Eventually we took different job paths, but stayed in touch. In thinking about Alice, several things stand out.
Alice loved flowers. She took great joy in giving them or creating lovely silk flower arrangements to grace our home or her office.
Alice was very thoughtful and caring. Even though she had her own burdens, she was always asking about others and their well-being. She did this even up to her last days here on earth.
Alice was generous. All of us who knew her experienced her love and tangible gifts, big and small.
Alice was strong. She fought long and hard through her cancer treatments, always keeping in mind how much she wanted to live for Jimmy and Jeana and her family. She particularly wanted to see granddaughter Aubrey grow up. Her faith in the Lord kept her trusting Him for His plans and will.
Alice is greatly missed. This beautiful person leaves a big hole in my life. I think about her still every day, throughout the moments of my days. I thank God that I was blessed by knowing her. I praise God that I know with assurance I will see her again because of our hope and trust in Jesus Christ as our Savior.
Alice flourished like a beautiful flower and while gone from this brief life on earth, she will never be forgotten. In a Daily Bread reading this week, the writer said, “We like flowers, can rejoice and flourish in a moment; but we can also celebrate the truth that the moments of our lives are never truly forgotten. God holds every detail of our lives, and His everlasting love is with His children forever!” (Alyson Kieda)
Praying for Jimmy, Jeana and Rob and Aubrey with love! Thank you for the beautiful memorial service. We enjoyed the pictures of Alice throughout her life with you.
