THE MARINE:
When everything is peaceful
And all is quite serene,
Did you ever give a thought
To the United States Marine?
You'll find him in the tropics
Beneath the blazing sun.
He's always ready for a fingt;
You cannot make him run.
You'll find him in the Orient
Two thousand miles from home.
His two years foreign duty
will keep him on the roam.
You'll find him in the islands
Alone and sad and blue;
Away from home and mother -
He does it all for you.
He sails the mighty oceans,
He crosses every sea,
To make the world a better place -
Safe for "Democracy ."
So when you meet a Leatherneck
Give him a friendly nod,
'Cause he's the one thats for the flag,
United States, and God.
