His Life

5650 William "Fuzzy" Jones

March 2, 2015

William H. Jones also known as Fuzzy, Prior and Charlie was born on May 3, 1932 in West Coast Demerara, British Guyana, South America. His early childhood years were spent with his father and stepmother at their residence in Cemetary Road, Lodge.

He attended St. Sidwells Anglican School and later attended Washington High School. In 1952 William joined the Guyana Police Force and was issued regulation number 5650. While in the police force he participated in several sporting activites including running, cycling and boxing.

William was also a proud member of the Guyana Police Male Voice Choir. While a member he traveled extensively and was part of the group that sang in Canada during Expo "67."  The choir was later invited to sing in New York by the Guyana Ex-Police Association of  America. As a result of his exposure to New York,  Fuzzy on returning to home decided to leave Guyana to pursue his dreams. He migrated to the states in the late sixties to further his education and explore his career opportunities.

Fuzzy worked at McGraw Hill Publishing for 25 years until his retirement. For several years he was an active member of the Guyana Ex-Police Association of America and Club Landers. He was a Brooklyn resident  from his arrival in the states up to the time of his death.

If one word can be used to describe Fuzzy Jones it is "eclectic."  He loved to celebrate life. He enjoyed dancing and partying. He was personable, charismatic, accomodating and reliable. He was the ultimate promoter; bus ride organizer, party planner, Master of Ceremony, advocate sports enthusiast and all round good sport.

After an eventful 82 years of life on this earth, Fuzzy made his final transistion on February 24, 2015 after a brief illness
