It's been over a year since Ms. Zena's passing and we miss her everyday. She was a light of happiness in our daycare. She had a gift with dealing with the children. Zena would walk in and gather her "friends" and they would follow her all around the daycare. The children adored her. She helped so many kids in need. She was their best friend and someone to look up. She is just simply one of the best teachers I have ever seen. Her compassion and love filled up the center daily. Zena watched me grow up. She cared for me and was always there for me, giving me the best advice. She was an aunt, a friend, and a wonderful soul. I will never forget your advice, your smile, and your contagious laughter. I miss you so much Ms. Zena. May you rest in peace with God in Heaven above.

I knew Zena for 15 years. She was my close friend and colleague! Zena was a great teacher, she brought creativity, love, and laughter in the center. Zena was a thoughtful person, she was giving, and very easy going. I will forever cherish the morning talks we had over coffee. I miss you everyday. I will forever remember our shared love for food, and our inside jokes!!! Thank you Zena for everything! I am so sad that I did not get a chance to say goodbye. I will miss you forever, until we meet again!

What can I say? We both had a silly sense of humor. Some would frown on hearing us say the silliest things, but that was my sister. Even when things were tense or stressful, all she had to do was say something in that Scooby-Doo voice to make me forget my worries. I will miss you and will NEVER 4get you!

I met the Leonard sisters on a trip to Bethel. We were on the same bus group. They were both sweet and loving. We met again, when I was transferred to the Northwest Congregation. Their father, Br. Leonard was one of my first field service partners with the Northwest Congregation. The faces of the Leonard family made me feel like I was a part of a new family. May Jehovah bless your family with peace, love, and wonderful memories.

We really enjoyed having the privilege of meeting the Leonards when serving their congregation. We were very saddened to hear of the loss of both. Brother Leonard and Mournita we pray Jehovah continues to hold your right hand and give you the comfort and endurance you need at this time. We love you very much.

Her Life

ZENITH MARIE LEONARD
JULY 1ST, 1963 – MARCH 22ND, 2020
On July 1st, 1963 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania a beautiful baby girl was born to the union of Willie and Juanita Leonard. She was named Zenith. She was one of six children.

The family moved to Detroit, Michigan where Zenith received her formal education graduating from Henry Ford High School. She continued her education studying early childhood development. It was in that field, that she was employed for over thirty-five years.

It was not surprising that Zenith worked in childhood development. She loved kids. She would often say that she got along better with kids than she did adults. Along with her love for children, Zenith had a strong love for her family. It took strong love for her to always be straight forward with them. Even if you did not like what she had to say, she would tell you anyway. They were a close-knit family and spent quality time together. Often traveling together to conventions of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Her love for her family was truly shown in the way she helped care for her ailing mother.

Zenith also had a deep love for Jehovah God, and on June 18th, 1983 she displayed that love when she was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Whether it was in her public ministry, assignments with her congregation, assisting with theocratic projects or just spending time with her friends, Zenith was a faithful servant and kept busy serving her God. She will truly be missed by many.

Cherishing her memory are her father, Willie Leonard; her mother, Juanita Leonard who died a few weeks after her; sisters: Mournita Leonard and Yvette Johnson; her brothers, Willie Leonard Jr. Stephen Leonard and Christopher Leonard. Her nieces, nephews, along with a host of other relatives and friends mourn her loss.

Zena's Laugh

May 4, 2020
I look forward to seeing and hearing Zena laugh so hard it takes her breath away. Always knew when she would really be tickled, she would go limp, fall back on the couch and her eyes would close tight, and her mouth open. You barely hear a sound. Her hand would be on her stomach. That would go on for a while until tears would flow. She'd remove her glasses, and when she try to speak her voice would crack, and she could say one word and that was it. That's what I look forward to when Jehovah resurrects her very soon. I love her so much, and Jehovah does too. Although she sleeps for now, to Jehovah she lives because she is in His memory, our God of the living. Luke 20: 37, 38.

My life was truly enriched by the friendship forged between Zena and I. That infectious smile, warm sense of humor, and that laugh always made my day. I will miss our days out in service and our
conversations.  Zena always had a way to make me feel good whenever I  wasn't feeling well. She absolutely will be missed as much as she was adored. See you in paradise my sister, my friend.
With all my love,
