Her Life
February 18, 2011

My Amanda was such a joy to have known, She had so many friends as she was growing up and was always helpful to them all, I am not saying that she never got into trouble cause she did, as any child did, but nothing that anyone would deem to be bad..

When Amanda was a teenager at school she helped out in a childrens home for the disabled, with her sister Deborah she would go there and play, talk and help get the children ready for bed.

Amanda enjoyed her life to the full even when she was diagnosed with bone cancer in her leg at the age of 20, We were told that the cancer had metastasised into her lungs and that there was nothing that could be done for her.  Amanda was started on chemotherapy which lasted 6 months and during all that time she was so sick but never complained, the only time she cried was on the day that she saw me crying!  Oh so brave, where on earth did that come from, I was supposed to be the brave one!  But there was my Amanda supporting me!

Amanda decided to raise some money for a local hospice in Cheshire and we had a fundraising event that really 'took off'  after a lot of hard work by Amanda, family, friends, and lots of strangers the Amanda Jayne Edwards Fund raised £250.000 which enabled a unit to be opened for respite care for teenagers.  Amanda had met Sarah The Duchess of York when she was in hospital on several occassions and they really got on so well.  Unfortunately Amanda died before the unit was finished but Sarah came and opened up the unit in her memory.  It is called The Amanda Edwards Unit.

Amanda is missed so much by all her family, her sister Deborah, brother Alan and myself and my husband and many many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, FOREVER AND ALWAYS YOU WILL BE WITH US IN OUR HEARTS AND IN OUR MINDS MY LOVE XXXXX
