Ray Edwards asked me to post this on his behalf:

"I knew Tony from TDJ, Palace of Westminster and IPA. He was a GOOD man. There aren't many people you can describe as such, but Tony was."

We all meet someone at least once during our lives who makes a serious impression. Tony was one such person, a very good friend to all whom he met. Generous, helpful and charitable. He made my transition from Policeman to London Cab Driver seamless. Thanks Tony for all your help.

Tony had a great sense of humour. It was whilst we staying with him in Texas that he decided to broaden our knowledge of the Lone Star State. We were travelling in his car when he stopped and asked us to follow him. He threw a stone into the undergrowth and then proudly informed us that in Texas nothing smells as bad as an angry skunk and do you know what, he was right! RIP Tony.

Tony was one of the few people I have known who I feel is worthy of being described as the epitome of Goodness. He was good in his warmth of heart, in his measured reason, his love of family and his care for others. The goodness of his religious faith never impaired his friendship for those of us who might have none, since he believed that the only way to have a friend was to be one.

I was lucky enough to meet Tony in 1988 when I rented his flat in Barking during my attachment to the MET. It was a great pleasure to meet him at work in the House of Parliament. Your friend from Switzerland, Chris

I first met Tony during our Traffic Patrol days. I'm not sure If I followed him or he followed me into Parliament later .It was during this time his IPA 'skills' were used. Through his many contacts we were able to take
our wives over to Germany several times. He was also responsible for
getting the minibus. What a talent. Rest in peace mate.

I have been too much at a loss for words to add to this memorial to Tony. I deeply miss my young bother; his humour; his cheekiness; his kindness; and his bravery. The occasions that we were together, especially with Alan, Gary and all our wives, are etched in my memory as a major part of my life. Tony enhanced our lives in many ways. I (we) love and miss you dearly, Bro. RIP

I have many happy memories of Tony. We first met when he transferred to TDC in 1986 and we remained friends ever since. He was very involved with the IPA and he donated many of his souveniers and put them on display at TDC. I still have manyhappy memories of our visit to Germany.
It is so sad he is no longer with us. A real gentleman.

I have many happy memories of Tony, he used 2 visit my house with his brothers in the 60's & 70's when I was a small boy and he was well loved by both myself and my parents. Although he lived in London for most of his life he had Egerton "Scouse Blood" in his veins & when I go 2 Anfield next on 19th May I shall make sure a suitable tribute is left for him at the Hillsborough memorial RIP

Every time I think of London I will think of Tony. The many good times my wife and I had there with him and also with his wife Sheila. He was also a fellow military historian and we visited the beaches at Normandy twice. He was a good friend, and, more importantly a great human being. I will never forget him. I know God has taken him into His arms.

Tony Egerton was a tribute to all mankind. He always greeted you with open arms. On my first visit to the Mother Land (England) Tony made our trip the most memorable trip of a lifetime... in the years past I have visited England well over 20 plus times. It was because of Tony and all the "Knowledge" he had made my love for our Mother Country even more vast. We miss you, Tony

A true & loyal friend. Our closeness came from sharing the same
birthday and due to the many hours we patrolled together, knew how
each other would think and act. I am already heavy of heart that
the phone will not ring and I will hear his voice. RIP

Without a doubt Tony was a person of the highest order, one of the truly genuine souls I have ever met. Intelligent, kind....an honest man with a keen sense of humour. He never met a stranger and I'm sure he's up in heaven making new friends. I miss him so much, especially on match days, RIP my friend! YNWA

It has taken me a while to actually start on this memorial as I have so many memories but it was just this week, with the passing of Maggie Thatcher, that I got to thinking of Tony now getting to meet all the wonderful people from history that he knew so much about. He was also a big fan of Richard Griffith and loved watching the Pie in the Sky series.

Today would have been Tony's 65th birthday. I miss him dreadfully but by chance today I found this web site and thought what a wonderful memorial it would be to him. His life was so full and he was loved by so many people all over the world that, together, we could really honor his memory!

1960’s

January 11, 2023
I can recall how Tony and his brothers visited my parents house in Southoe, Huntingdonshire in the late 1960’s. They used to camp in the back garden and Tony had a huge liking for my mums home-made coffee cake.

Southoe is a small rural village, even smaller back then in the late 1960’s. I was 8 or 9 years old and I took them for a walk aroundthe village. They suddenly all got very excited at a field containing cows. None of them had ever seen a real live cow before.

Stand Up To Cancer

November 20, 2019
This year, American Airlines and Stand Up To Cancer partnered to provide a very special, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for employees to add a loved one’s name to a plane in honor of those who are cancer survivors as well as those who lost their battle with cancer.  For a very small donation to SUTC, the name of the person they stand up for was added to an Airbus A231.  The plane is wrapped with a special SUTC design that includes the names submitted.

Tony's name is on the right side behind the wing on the black arrow.  You can see it in the Gallery.

Today he flew from DFW to SFO!

This is so neat - enjoy your trips, my darling!  Maybe I will take a trip on the plane one day.

Thank you for this American Airlines, it means so much to so many people!

Letting Go

October 16, 2015
Today was such a sad day for me.  I finally had to accept that Tony's car had to go as it is 19 years old and needs a new engine.  Memories came flooding back, of course, and those memories started to run down my cheeks.  I was losing another little bit of Tony and he seemed to be getting further away from me.  I decided to donate the car to the Make a Wish Foundation and I know Tony would like to think the old car would help those brave children in some way - we met so many of them at M.D. Anderson in Houston.  They made it really easy and picked it up and I didn't even have to be there to see it go.
