Remembering

October 13, 2023
Just yesterday I was remembering with Christian how Grammie came to everything for the kids. Book fair? She’s be there with her credit card ready to buy books for the kids. Performances? With bells on. Such an amazing grandma to my kids showing so much unconditional love. We still miss her so often and feel the loss. Celebrating her and the example of love she was to me.

The flight attendant and the gate agent

November 2, 2017

I first met Barbara in December of 1980 in Honolulu at the gate upon arrival of her flight from San Francisco. Thus began a true friendship and it became so wonderful as the years went on. No matter where she lived, where she flew her trips to, we had such fun when we could get together.
She was an amazing woman, her courage in fighting any illness (and beating it!),
her love for her family and friends, her faith, were beautiful to behold.
Her inner strength to overcome any obstacles was a testament to her nature.

Train Home to Tokyo

October 30, 2017

Circa 1987. On layover in Japan, we took a train to Tokyo. Yasu Hirayu, Faith Ann McMahon, Barb, and some Japanese guy who was less than thrilled to be sitting next to the loud "gaijin."

Petting Zoo

October 30, 2017

We had a petting zoo set up for our son's 5th birthday. Barb just had to hold this nasty old chicken and take a picture because they had the same hair color/style.

To condense 30 years of friendship with Barb Schutz in a few short paragraphs is, quite honestly, an impossible task. But suffice it to say, I refuse to beleive that she's gone. She's not. She's just flying a different line in a different dimension. This woman has taught me more about life and living than any other single soul in my mortal existence. Her physical presence may no longer be with us, but her life does indeed live on. She's busier than ever, and I look forward to the day we meet in person again!

Barb circa 1995

Always a smile on her face and gracious as could be. At a party we hosted at our home.

Barb and Friends

Taken poolside at the baby shower in 1995. Left to right: Sharon Kaopua Shellhouse, my Mother, (Ruth Cyr), Me, my wife (Remy), and of course, Barb.

The Barb I remember

October 30, 2017

Barb not only threw us a baby shower in 1995, she did it all - including keeping a list on who gave what.

Barb Baby Shower

October 30, 2017

Barb was so gracious in throwing us a baby shower when our son was born. 1995. Always the perfect hostess!

Barb's Handiwork

October 30, 2017

The infant cushion Barb made by hand for our son. This is one of our most treasured heirlooms from Barb. Made with love. Doesn't get better than that!
