Her Life

Loved with food

December 23, 2011

Beth was a truly beautiful lady who was genuinely interested in people and would give and receive with grace and generousity.  Nothing was too much trouble and she would give you her all.  Every time.

Her life revolved around giving to others, providing a safe haven, comforting and guiding, supporting and loving.  She nurtured us all and had a fantastic memory for remembering what made you happy.  Whenever you visited Beth, she'd include some food or drink that she knew was your particular favourite.  She loved to share and give and make people comfortable.

Ever need a recipe or tip - Call Beth.  She'd have a new idea as well as all the old favourites.  Who could ever forget her Pavlova Roll?  Her plates of antipasto? Green dip, Shortbread, Rumballs, Almond bread?  Melon and proscuitto, ricepaper rolls, and the good old Moccasin?

Feasting just won't be the same but we have some great memories to share.

Hobbies and Handicraft

December 23, 2011

Beth was wonderfully creative and mastered a range of art and crafts.  She loved to crochet and made the most exquisite and finely crafted doilies, jug covers, tablecloths, runners and rugs.  As soon as she heard about a new baby in the wide circle of friends she'd pull out the knitting or crocheting hook and get started on something beautiful.

She etched glasses, vases and candle holders with designs and illustration that brought a lovely personal touch to each item.  Hobbytex was all the rage in the 1970's and Beth mastered it as well.

Sewing was a joy for Beth and she whipped up all sorts of costumes, clothes and designs, even creating a personal designer label with best friend Margaret.

Ball gowns, bridesmaid's dresses, formal outfits, baby wear and casual clothes were all products of Beth's sewing machine - with many a late night fitting scheduled to make last minute adjustments to outfits.  She loved it.

Cake decorating was a talent and Beth made any occasion really special with a beautifully decorated cake.  She made gorgeous fondant cakes for any occasion as well as loving to make special birthday cakes for her granddaughters.

She had a wonderful eye for beauty and creativity and loved to share and encourage others to pursue any creative pursuit.

Country Living

December 23, 2011

As a young family, they travelled the state of Western Australia, relocating with John's job as a Bank Manager through Carnamah, Carnarvon, Ongerup, Port Hedland and Kalamunda.

Beth wholeheartedly embraced the country way of life, being involved in and contributing to the community and township with her zest for life and generosity.

She entertained and hosted parties, functions and brought people together to share food, fun and friendship wherever she went.

Friendships from those early days in the country still remain strong.

The Love of her Life

December 23, 2011

Beth met her future husband John in 1961 and they married in 1967 in the Albany Scots Presbyterian Church (now Scots Uniting) in York Street, Albany.

Three years later they welcomed their firstborn, Narelle and in 1972, their son Andrew arrived to complete their family.

Her family was the centre of her life and love and she continued to gather in people with her warmth and friendship wherever she went.
