Her Life Story

May 24, 2016

Beverly Ann Smith was born Feb. 29, 1946, which was a leap year. However, her birthday was celebrated March 1.

She was the fifth of seven children born to Edgar “Ben” Jackson and Lee Edwin Tatum-Jackson. Beverly graduated from Blackshear Washington High School. She was a dedicated student and received the highest of honors in her high school career.

During that time, she met the love of her life, Frankie Lee Smith. The two were wed in Limestone County on July 26,1964. To this union four children were born: Paulette Elaine Smith, Karen Louise Smith, Frankie Lee Smith Jr. and Timothy Dewayne Smith.

Beverly graduated magna cum laude from Paul Quinn College in 1991, with a bachelor's degree in education, while maintaining full-time employment at Mexia State School. She worked in Recreation and Volunteer Services for over 30 years.

After her college graduation and retirement she taught English at Carver Middle School in Waco for three years. Beverly’s love for education and learning compelled her to help anyone who needed help with their educational pursuits.
Her up-front, plain-spoken, no-nonsense attitude endeared her to friends and family. She enjoyed Tuesday domino nights with family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frankie Sr.; sister, Barbara; brother, Edgar; and special niece, Joyce Ann. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Paulette (Danny) Huckaby, Karen (Vernon) Thomas, Frankie (Toni-special friend) Smith, and Timothy (Kisha) Smith; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three siblings, Willie Jackson, Bennie McNeil and Jessie Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She went to be with the Lord on June 20, 2015.

She will truly be missed!!!
