Barrett and I shared barrels of laughs playing football together at St. Joseph’s prep in the mid-1990s. I didn’t know him for very long, but I clearly remember us constantly laughing and smiling at practice together (he was a grade above me). See you on the field, Barrett!

Barrett, miss the poker nights! Time flies, still sucks. Barrett's Chowder lives on even though the East End Deli is hibernating.

It is hard to believe that 10 years have lapsed since your life’s journey irrevocably changed ours. You are missed every day, loved every day.
Some day we will all be reunited. Your family has the love and support of so many. Peter and I are glad to have been your friend, and continue to love Leslie, Joe, Devan, Brian, Dayna and Jacqueline. Your daughter is amazing!

It’s hard to believe that it’s been 10 years since we all lost Barrett. All of our lives have changed so much during this time. Many of us have moved, and we have tried to keep in touch. Unfortunately, with my family health I have not been in touch with the Anding family for several years. They were allways such an important part of my life, and I miss them very much. I would love to know how they are. Its daughter is doing. I’m sure she’s quite a beautiful young lady now. I live in Chattanooga now and I am under hospice care. I send my best to the entire Anding family, and pray for them over their loss of such an important part of your family. We never get over it, we just hold them in our hearts.

I didn't know until this summer that Barrett had a favorite flower! It is the sunflower and I think that is fitting since the first time Brrett came to visit our family state side was when we lived in Kansas and the Kansas State Flower is the Sunflower. It reminds me of his smile always sunny and bright. I don't know what we would have done without the Anding family when we moved to Berlin Germany! That is where we all met and became immediate friends. Barrett and sister Devan where a breathe of fresh air not to mention Leslie and Joe! We will miss him forever!

Dear Joe and Leslie,

Joe, I am an old friend of yours -- Carole Walters - and I came across Leslie's FACEBOOK quite by accident and learned that you lost your beloved son Barrett last year. I just want to say how very sorry I am. We lost our beloved son Keith over 25 years ago when he was 21 years old, so I KNOW the grief and suffering you are going through. I can only tell you that as the years go by the suffering does get less; and most importantly, you will see the Lord use the loss of your son in many different ways in your lives -- I know that sounds impossible at this point of your loss, but it is true. The most important thing of all is to KNOW that Barrett is with the Lord and you WILL see him again.
I also lost my husband Johnny last year after a long illness. His passing was a blessing as he had suffered for many years. I'm so happy that he's now with the Lord and no longer in pain.  Maybe one day we can get together as I live in Ormond Beach -- just south of Port Orange where your daughter lives, if my information is correct.

God bless you both,

Carole Edwards

I saw the notice of Barrett's passing on the Prep website. My son graduated in '97. Leslie, I remember your passion for Second Hand Joe's and the story you told of Barrett starting out in a size 14 Boy's jacket as a freshman and ending up as a senior in a 2XX.
There are no words to express my sorrow for you and your family...my deepest condolences. God Bless you all.

Barrett... what a good friend! Always looking out for those he cared about, full of spunk, a hot head at times, but only because he was so passionate! Some of my memories.. Not letting me drink cherry bombs any more, because he knew how toxic they were, always asking me how my life was going, introducing me to Dayna and Jacqueline. A genuine person with a big heart. RIP my friend.
