Dorcas Oluwafunto Onaopemipo was born on the 6th of May, 1980 In Jos, Plateau state to Ven. Dr Matthew (late) & MrsClara Adepoju. She is the second of their five children. From the moment she was born, you could tell that she was unique in warmth and grace.

Dorcas completed her Primary education from ABU staff school in 1992 before proceeding to Nana girls’ secondary school in Sokoto. After 2 years at Nana Girls’ secondary school, she transferred to St Barthlomew’s Secondary school, Wusasa, Zaria where she graduated in 1998. She then proceeded to Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and studied Human Physiology. She graduated in 2004. 

For NYSC, she was posted to Ondo state where she lectured at the Ondo State School of Health Technology, Akure. She completed her youth service in February 2006.

As God would have it, Dorcas joined the millions of graduates in the banking industry and in November 2006, she started her career with FCMB. Her first posting was to Jos her birth town. It was during this time that her relationship with Edward Uroko, who was a classmate from school, developed.

On May 2nd, 2009, Dorcas married Edward Uroko at Holy Trinity Church, Gwagwalada. Following their nuptials, she relocated to Lafia to join Edward and has been living and working in Lafia until April 2021. The marriage was blessed with four daughters, Sharon, Stephanie and the twins, Shanaya and Sophia. 

Dorcas was a woman of faith all through her life participating in many Christian groups. She was an active member of Full Gospel Business Men’s fellowship. As a teenager, she was an active choir member whenever she was at home from boarding school. At the time of her death, Dorcas was a member of living faith church. She loved to read, watch movies and had a very curious mind. Dorcas was known for her big gap-toothed smile and bubbly personality. Anyone who met her will remember her infectious laughter.

She became unwell a few days before she died on the afternoon of the 24th of May, 2021. She is survived by her husband, children, mother, sister and brothers. 

She will be missed by everyone who had the privilege to meet her. She had so much to live for but God knew why he called her this early. May her soul rest in peace.
