November 14, 2020
Mrs Florence Olalonpe Olokun was born on 31st October 1940 into the family of Late High Chief Isaac( Konye) and Mrs. Olasitimi IJOSE of Ilutitun Osooro in Okitipupa local government area of Ondo State. She was the 5th out of 7 children of her mother.

She started her primary school education at St.John Anglican primary school Igbotako, but later finished at St.John/Mary Demonstration school, Owo.

After her primary school education she attended Hannah Hinderal Secondary Modern School Okeado, Ibadan( 1959-1961), and later U.M.C. Teacher Training College Ibadan( 1962-1964). She taught at various Schools in Ibadan and in Lagos after her teacher training education.

She got married to her heart throb late Reverend Frank Babafemi Olatunde Olokun in 1966. The marriage has been blessed with children. She went on to study Sociology at the University of Lagos where she graduated with second class upper division. After graduating, she worked with Lagos State Government for some years before switching to the Federal government of Nigeria.

She worked at various Federal Government of Nigeria Ministries and retired from the Ministry of Information as an Deputy Director of Culture and Information in 2000. She then went on to spend the latter part of her life in the service of God at Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) as a Lady Evangelist and active member of the church.

Lady Evangelist Olokun, a born again Christian, spent most of her adult life serving God as an Evangelist with the CAC Church in Lagos. She was in the Ministry for more than 30 years. Her passion was in Prison Ministry and Children’s Ministry which she did devotedly using her personal resources most of the time because she believed till her death that whatever God endowed with should be used for God's work, especially soul winning.

She was both a teacher of the word and an Evangelist, with a passion for children and women. Towards the end of her life, she developed an interest in writing Christian literature and went on to publish a Christian book: “Woman as created by God”, delving into the role of women in the church.

There's no doubt that most of her church members will attest to the fact that  she was a virtuous and humble woman, a team player, a prolific giver of no mean repute, ready to part with her material and financial resources.

She was until her transition a Teacher, Counsellor, and a veritable Mentor who has positively touched many lives. She will be greatly missed.
