Yesterday I was talking about tante Germaine because I was in a situation where I could use one of her quotes. She used to say : Saint..... (I don't remember which one! Please fill the blank ) souké pon yèt yo ! I loved Mamie , I never forgot what she said to me.
I remember when I went to NY the first time, I just migrated to Quebec and my first trip out was NY. I was supposed to spend a week-end but I wanted to stay longer, as I was wondering about my clothes getting dirty and not having clean ones , tante Germaine said to me : don't worry every body is dirty in this city !

Comme aurais dit Lafontaine : "en toute chose il faut considérer la fin " on doit surtout retenir qu'elle a bien vécut jusqu'à un âge considérable . Le mieux est de se rappeler de son vivant .Elle était la sœur préférée de ma grand'mère Je garde d'elle un très beau souvenir . Que son âme repose en paix .

Germaine was our oldest living resident, as well as the longest living resident at Alimar, so she had a very special place in our hearts. She was very sweet and very classy - she always said "please" and "thank you". She loved her cookies and coffee - she would ask anybody that walked by for some. She was constantly working on crossword puzzles.

One time we had an Elvis impersonator that was so good that she actually told me, "Thank you, thank you, thank you! I just don't know how you pulled that off!" She loved that Elvis.

She used to tell me a story of when she was young, riding horses from one edge of a field to the other side. I remember how her face would light up at the memory.

I still remember the day that she came to Alimar. Bill told me that she was leaving the house every day trying to go to Mass. He was concerned for her safety and felt it best she move to Alimar. Even here, she would ask me directions to the closest church.

Everybody at Alimar always spoke of how sweet she was, how she never complained, and how she always had a smile. But I still remember when a friend of my daughter's used to deliver the briefs, and he would come into her room to do so...I don't know what she did, but he was terrified of her. He was 6'4, 240 lbs, and terrified of Germaine.

She was a very special lady and she will not be forgotten. We have had very few residents like her - people like Germaine are hard to come by. Just to look at her would make you happy. She will always be a part of us.

Eugenie Ninie Cauvin, soeur de Petion et de Francois Cauvin etait leur marraine et aidait Man Vava a elever tous les enfants de cette lignee dont mon pere, Tante Jeanne, Tante Resia et mon oncle Andre. D'ailleurs lors d'un proces retentissant qui mettait face a face Leger Cauvin l'erudit et Francois Cauvin, Leger arreta un peu sa plaidoirie pour saluer Francois son neveu en lui disant:" tu es le seul Cauvin appele a me remplacer."

Je me souviens encore d'un cahier de beaux poèmes choisis et écrits à la plume par Tante germaine.Elle me l''avait offert en cadeau sachant que j'aimais réciter des vers.J'ai encore en tete un de ces poèmes,d'un auteur inconnu, intitulé Berruria.Je penserai à toi Tante Germaine à chaque fois que je dirai ces vers...Merci,Repose en paix.

Toute jeune fille,contrairement à ses soeurs,Tante Germaine était très sportive et active.Elle jouait au volleyball avec les amies de son quartier dont les demoiselles Barreau...

My condolences to the family. I remember your parents during the times Calvin and I went to visit you at the apartment hi-rise. Great memories and I light this candle in memory of her. May she rest in peace eternally.

I vividly remember the day you took several of us from the Manhattan College Track team to your family's apartment high above Manhattan. I was stunned by the view, the friendliness of your beautiful sisters and the incredible welcoming manner of your mother. She immediately made us all feel very welcome that day, and I often think of this when I see those buildings high above the skyline. She was as gracious a person as I have ever met and she had an incredible run for all the years she enjoyed life. She certainly touched me with her manner, and she must have been very proud of all of you.

Jessie - Ed and I extend condolences to you and your family. Your mom lived a long, fruitful life and She will be greatly missed. I remember visiting your mom many times when she lived with you in Falls Church, VA. She always brought a smile to my face.

Jessie, your mom was indeed a very special person. I can remember several times speaking with her at your home, but especially on an evening dinner out with your family before a Christian concert at the McLean Bible Church, your mom and I spoke a little French. She very kindly commented that my pronunciation was very good. That was very nice of her to say and I shall remember it always. Many blessings to you and your family.
